You couldn't drag me to Old Town with Roy Orbison's ghost, that place ****s, I'll go if you're going though, John, maybe Seet Pea will be on the road, and maybe those dipweeds will let me in without the bumpers.

As my son said when we were there a couple of weeks ago, "Dad, the cars here look like a chrome and billet catalog puked all over them!"

I'm gonna drive up to the Turkey Run on that Friday. I'd be happy to give someone a lift, but expect to stay all day. Maybe if Nads and the other Orlando area Hambers want to get together we can do a meet & greet in Daytona.

What part of Orlando are you staying in?

I'm not going to make the Turkey Run, but am going to the Nostalgia Drags in Bradenton on Nov 3 if anyone wants to plan a little get together.

If you've been there a couple of times, you're not the problem, it's the no life jack***es that haven't missed a single one since tires were made out of rocks, that are. Their rules are a bit much to take, you won't get in if your front bumper hasn't returned from plating but a solid colored Maverick with rust bubbles around every wheel arch and teddy bears by the score on the parcel shelf can go right on in.

I used to go for the kid's sake, and I still do, once in a while. I'll go if out of towners are here.

Destination Daytona is better and it's not as uptight plus The Rhythmatics play there, and they're really good.

Old Town is just flat worn out, I went to the very first but by the Glory of God I missed the next few thousand.

Old Town is also the capital of stupid "time-out dolls" and geezers in folding chairs. I can only stand the music for an hour or so anyway.

At least you can buy beer there.

Almost forgot, but second Sat of the month is a not-so-bad gathering in New Smyrna Beach. Last time I was there I saw a pretty wide variety of things from Ferraris, to hot rods, to dune buggys, to the usual uptight Mustang restorations. Ate a greasy polish sausage, drank a beer, talked to some pretty nice folks, then went for a moonlight walk on the beach with my wife. Nice evening.

No ****, the New Smyrna one is really cool, I forget about that one, I like going there, the downtown is a real old town not some made up thing like the one in Kissimmee.

Biketober Feast at Daytona Beach the latter part of October and the car show at Destination Daytona is cancelled for the bikes. There is a roaster show in Melborne on the 21st of Oct.

Thanks for the heads up on the New Smyrna Beach show, I'll have to try that on one of my trips. We go down to Florida several times a year and do a number of car events in and around the Dade City/Tampa area plus the Turkey Run. Have been to Old Town several times, not always impressed by the cars that are there. My relatives who have lived in Florida for a long while have grown tired of Old Town, not because of the travel time to get there, more because of what's there when they get there. :(
Wife wants to join her relatives in Florida when whe retires (not long now) so we're going to be looking forward to a lot of cruising when that happens.

Dade City's a cool one too, that's a real nice old downtown with tons of antique shops.

Plant city is on the third Saturday of the month, and it kicks off about 5:00. It's low key no rules and sometimes they get a lot of cars. It's about 30 to 45 minutes from Orlando.

I have to agree about the "geezzers". I 'm trying to get my 17 year old interested in cars, that's why I took him to OldTown. I'm taking him to the Nostalgia drags and to Speedworld in Oct. He helps me on the 55 but since it isn't streetable yet,,he's not really into it.
