  2. Take it from a South Mississippian. Cruisin' the Coast is far worse than "not traditional." It ****s. You'll see Monster trucks, Donks, tuners, OSR interpretations of "rat rods", open wheeled rods with Mustang II front ends, and just about every thing else that will make you want to puke.

Here's their raffle car...........if you like this, you'll like CTC.

    I think he's being a bit negative.

Although you'll see them on Hwy 90 (a public road) I have yet to see a "monster truck, a tuner or a donk" registered in the show. It's worth coming to see.

In 2000 or 2001, I can't remember, I attended and while it's not a traditional event by any means, I still had fun. We stayed at the Holiday Inn right on the gulf and overlooked the main cruzn action. There were wonderful shade trees out front and free ****tails in the lobby. The cruzn action at nite was just like the Woodward Dream Cruz, lots of variety with people doing some crazy burnouts and such. There was a mini van with slicks that kept going out front, doing m***ive burnouts, then "hiding" behind the Holiday Inn till the cops left then coming out and doing it again. The crowd was LOVING it and the cops never caught on.

Since it was a part of the country I hadn't visited before, just cruzn along the coast, with those white sandy beaches was nice. My favorite community was Bay St Louis with it's quaint bars, resturants and shops. I probably could have stayed there the whole 10 days and been completely content.

Worth a one days drive for sure.

  5. I'll give you that. They aren't registered, but they are everywhere. Forgot to add. Pay your money to get in the swap meet only if you need sungl***es, cell phone accessories, etc, 'cause car parts are few and far between.

    And..........take an umbrella.

Well, darn! :( I was actually going to go over there just for the swap meet. Is it really that bad? It's probably been five years since I went to a CTC.

While I certainly agree on not much car stuff at the swap meet I do believe it was free to enter for registered event participants.

I guess I got lucky the year I went, not one drop of rain.

I must add I did meet some "characters". Ended up hanging out and drinking with these guys from LA that were into **** fighting and owned alot of birds. While not my cup of tea (the fighting) they sure were ALOT of fun to party with at the bar.:D

I'll be there, without my monster truck though :)

It would be great if it was all traditional roadsters running around, (my personal favorite) but I always find cool stuff to look at, and it beats not having a car event that week.

I used to go, I never registered. I went a few years before Katrina and got a reckless driving ticket. I was at one of the Bilioxi Casinos rolling bones in Jan 2007 and I'm sure the local economy could use a boost. Tim

Saying it's a terrible show is degrading something that helps the coast 10 fold, especially after the storm. I went last year, and as long as you can respect the level of work put into something, it's a great show. Even if you do not like the boyd's there, there are quite a few kustoms that show up, as well as traditionals.

I will be going yearly as long as I live close enough to make it. I happen to think this is one of 2 things Mississippi has worth driving an hour for. This, and s****in' the coast. I had a blast last year, it's a great family show, the swap meet fell short last year, but maybe it's because I wasn't LOOKING for anything.

You also have to realize that the coast screams retirement, so that is a lot of the cars that come. The old guys with more money than sense. It IS an enjoyable show, being on the coast alone would make the trip worth while.

It's not a bad time. Remember, the show doesn't advertise specificly for traditional rods. it is for everyone to come and show off their idea of what they like in a ride. some of them guy's in monster trucks have no clue why we do wat we do, and we can't always figure them out. Besides the area does need te economic support since Katrina. It is still an empty feeling wen I go back home. From Gulfport and my family is still there. Sister lost pretty much everything. She has the land and parts of the building where the brother-in-law tried to make a living. It can be a blast if you go there wanting to enjoy a bunch of goofy southern boys.

Ditto if you are a car guy and can appreciate other people's work and ideas regardless of whether you are into the particular style or not you will have fun.

hey guys, I do some computer work for CTC, and they told me today there are already over 3000 cars pre registered, and of course many don't register until they get in town, still more never register but just cruise, So it should be lots of fun no matter what genre of cars show up, and no matter what the nay-sayers say

I'm hoping to be there with my Katrina scarred bare metal 31 roadster, for its first ever outing. IF I can lick this STUPID oil pan leak. I've had the oil pan off 5 times, changed timing cover, oil pan, gaskets 3 times, very frustrated with it right now.

Otherwise i'll be in the flat black 37, (with the non-hamb wheels:D ) If ya'll see me give a holler. I can't usually do all the events but hang out on the beach for the evening cruising. I do close shop for the Biloxi meet at the City hall and will probably park at the Peoples bank or the law firm across the street, both are customers of mine and usually save me a place somewhere in their lot. If you see me give me a shout

You have enough crankcase venting? Mine was blowing oil out the seals till I added PVC valve.

Hey Judd, it has the oil fill tube in the front of the manifold and the draft tube on the back of the block (old 327) so it should be well vented I would think?

I had this vent system and had to add the vent valve in the manifold.

Hey My31and37 looks like you are getting everything back together , goodjob!
Guys let me tell you if you get a chance to go to CTC go:D !!!!! The locals are great and everyone has a blast. The cruising is really something , we always enjoy hanging out in front of the hotels at night , it can get pretty wild sometimes. I have not gone in a couple years , my family and I plan on going next year for sure. The whole family wil enjoy it ! Great variety of unusual cars from all over the country.
