Hey guys, Another new guy 'round here. My name's John, I'm 22, and I live in MD. Just got outta college for mechanical engineering. I love rats, kustoms, and chops. Got a 72 CB750 chopper I ride, my DD until recently was a '66 C20, and I got a lot of projects in the works. I'm buildin my first rat, a '62 Buick Special vert, startin in a few weeks. My vette is takin up the shop space/time right now. Just finished a total mechanical rebuild with new suspension and a 383 stroker (it's an '84 vette). Got a '46 Chevy 1/2 ton I'm puttin back stock cause it was my grandfather's. Also into old engines, machinery, and anything cool. Wish I could stripe... Anyway, here I am. I'm also a member of JockeyJournal and a few other fine forums around here. Usually the same name. Lookin forward to a long happy relationship with the board-flies.
I wouldn't advise you to use "rat" around here. Traditional and Kustom are more than welcome, as are you. I would post an intro, or this post in the intro section as well....or ask Ryan to have it moved. Good luck with the builds, it's a fun place to be (the HAMB). Haven't been here long, but it gets interesting.
good luck with your rat. remember to use rattle can black primer, and red wheels with whitewalls. Then you need to decide if your going to go for a spiderweb or iron cross theme. The bigger the better. Mexican blanket and your good to go. Try the OSR forum too.
I get the point. "Kustoms" here, rats elsewhere. To that effect, I'm working on a 62 Buick Special vert, call the finished product what you want to. And, yes, this is an intro post so if it could be moved...
I had a HAMSTER once but he died (that was 1955). I like flat black, red and low cars but don't say rat here some of these guys think their cooler then that and will cry. Wait and see!!!
A 62 Buick is neither a "rat" or a "kustom". Besides - we don't build rats here. We build hot rods. If you're looking for trends - you've come to the wrong place. You might be greeted with a smile here: http://www.olskoolrodz.com/ Now with the semantics out of the way - this is the best web site on the face of the planet - so you can learn a LOT here. Welcome to the HAMB.
The high school shop teacher could count the number of 62 Buick convertables that have been done "right" on one hand..... ..and he's missing four fingers.
Damascus? All the real big rats are in Baltimore City, man those ****ers are the size of rabbits, no joke!
