  3. Thanks for sharing. Those are really neat. I wonder how many of those places still look anything like that?

Ah - all them daily drivers....

Great to see the original colors cars actually had.
Dusty and dented, unlike in period movies with mostly waxed showcars and candy colors.

Would love to hear sound with some of the pics.
    Thanks for posting.

St. Louis - Look at the 55? at the red light sans front bumper and splash pan. At first my mind snapped Gasser! But looking at the rear wheel and stance I bet it was just damage controll...

I wish I was born about 50 years earlier. I hate the way the world is now compared to how it was then. Everything then had so much character, now its all cookie-cutter cars and buildings. Too much technology, kids don't have any respect or responsibility.

when i remember back into my childhood all the colors dont seem to be as bright or exuberent.. its good to know that color back then was just as colorful as it is now... just as not overcrowded with metallic and pearl paints.

I'm glad you guys dig the pix!

The "see the USA, in a Chevrolet" song has been rattling around in my head all morning since seeing them.

WOW. Great post...I love vintage photos!

I walk by this statue thats located on the corner of Colfax and Broadway almost every other day! I've also used the bus stop that still exists on that very corner!

Don't you just love the warmth and richness of the old color film. I wish you could somehow replicate that with a modern digital.

Isn't that what's called "chrome" film (i.e. Kodachrome)? I have purchased old postcards in the past and the color ones are often called "color chrome postcards."

Here's downtown Muskegon, circa 1956 if the cars are an accurate representation. Everything you see here was torn down in the '60s to build a mall, which itself has since been torn down and is being replaced with a new downtown:

I'd like to get this image blown up into a big poster, but I'm afraid that since it was copyrighted they won't do it.
