well it all started around 8 months ago when i had some $$ urning a hole in my pocket after i finished and sold my model A. well 8 months later and a brand new bottom 12 inches of the car we are finally getting somewhere . tweed interior, hagan headlights, tilt column (soon to be) goooooooone! heres where we start.. not to bad lookin huh? welll 3/4s of an inch of bondo later apperently to them metal work was smashing in the panels with a hammer to get all the high spots down and a light skim coat of bondo rear panel first. every patch panel on this car the original was under neath interesting technique. new panel in ohhh wait now it needs quarters and rockers and a door
Y aknow, I'm getting so ****ing tired of the term "gold chainer"...just because it's got a tweed interior, tilt column and Hagen doors that means it was owned by someone with tons of money, or what...??? And if you bought it, with all that money "burning a hole" in YOUR pocket...what's that make you ...??? R-
thanks to Kustom777 i have a drivers door now also shaved some buick portholes in the front fenders ohh and they were new buick portholes off of a 2000 something same thing on the other side here is this side looking like a car again thanks to flat top bob and owens salvage for this door well all the fun begins next time . shaved door handles 53 caddy headlights are started lenghtened the skirts shaved the gas filler door and getting ready to gap the panels for the chop. thanks for looking
Like this early 50s pontiacs. To be honest, I can't understand what they were thinking when they installed all those tweed interiors in the 90s? Looks like they have killed a teacher and stolen his clothes as interior material. **** ugly. If I want a "luxury" look, I would prefer leather instead, gray tweed? Yuk... That is what is in most econoboxes circa 1985.
the goldchain remark was made just because the car had that typical look.im trying to trun the car around to have a 50 custom look with out the tilt columns tweed interior etc etc sorry for ruining your day dude just trying to show some people out there what i have been up to.
i think it looks killer. im trying to learn some sheet metal work. and have asked soem questions here and there on the HAMB. i love it when people like you put alot of pictures in here showing the steps, some what.
and heres the way it sits now with 53 caddy headlights half way in and shaved front turn signals until next time
the car's looking good,,,,you've come a long way with it.. when you are done, you'll have to bring it to the shop so i can see it in person!
Nice body work! I smash in high spots like that and bury them in mud all the time for used carlot jobs. Your ride is looking good, I cant get metal that straight yet.
panels are from ems .(very nice to work with by the way)alot of chevy interchanges with the pontiacs. front quarters do half of the rear quarters do also. the chevy though has a cut out for the bumper . im only 22 so i gotta lot to learn but the metal is quite a challenge to work with i have a ton of hours gettin those welds smooth and panels fairly straight. thanks for the compliments on the work also later on
my first question was "where the **** did you get pontiac patch panels?????" buti see you used chevy stuff. intended to do the same with my 50 four door. she's on hiatus, i'd like to still do something with her someday. bles you heart for saving that poor, poor pontiac.
the worst problem about this car was when whoever owned it before me put it on the s 10 frame when i was rusty as alll hell and everything twisted or shifted .i have countless hours into the door jambs getting them back to normal wailing on the door hinges etc etc etc. door gaps are being a pain. spent all day yesterday messing with them bu t they have came along way. should have another update in about a week thanks for the interest, tom
