Hit head-on in the 24 Track Roadster

Well i was cruising to the city of Orange today,stopped for gas in a shopping center. As i was leaving a Toyota Truck sped toward me , the driver was looking at his p***enger, not paying attention. He was travelling about 30 mph and on the wrong side of the road. He smacks me head on, backs up and speeds off. A witness followed him and cut him off. He ran from the vehicle but the female p***enger stayed in the truck. The local police{ i had called right away} had a helicopter in the air trying to find him. The female p***enger had an outstanding warrant so she got cuffed and hauled off to jail. He is on probation they found out and when they find him he will also go to jail. My Roadster's front end{suicide style} is wiped out,axle bent severelt,wishbone jammed back and broke, and who knows what else. I have it at South County Customs for repair ,so i know they will do a good job. He had NO insurance, but i have the pleasure of knowing they both will spend time behind bars. The co-operation i got from bystanders in helping to apprehend this smuck was outstanding. Course i am pissed the Roadster will be outa commission for awhile. Luckily neither myself or my p***enger was hurt .

Sounds like you are lucky that the injuries were not worse. The guy that hit you will get his due.

 

Unfortunately he will probably be back out on the road driving with no insurance sooner than you would think...

 

the way he hit me the front axle and left fron tire and rim took most of it. course the front suspension is history. but l am happy neither i or my female p***enger was hurt.

the guy that hit me is probably caught by now, they had quite a bit of info on him and in JAIL> the gal with him is in jail as i write this.

 

well, that's a sad story, but it sounds like it could have been really bad.. and that everything will work out. It's cool that someone went out of their way to help you.. humans even

Your insurance company will keep after the guy. That's why you pay for uninsured motorist insurance.Did seat belts help protect you, or just Lady Luck?

 

A very sad story to hear. Maybe the system here when it is illegal to drive without an insurance that covers the damage for the other part isn't so stupid after all...

these stories make me nervous too because Im working on a T. I ***ume you had seatbelts etc. Any shots of the damage, just curious how it held up. Im running a suicide front end also.

 

I dont have pics of the damage,but it held up remarkably well considering the impact. No seatbelts, Ladyluck was with us both ,but i think its time for the seatbelts !~!

YIKES! Sorry to hear the news and like everyone else said I'm happy to hear you two weren't hurt. Yes, it is time for seatbelts.

 

That ****S!!! Thats a cool little car. I'm glad you guys were not hurt. Too bad the guy didnt run out into traffic and get clipped by a bus.

hahaha your never going to let me live down the 5/16 fine thread deal! yea i will be at the breakfast, gotta get the A put back together hood is off and grill shell getting painted, but if i have to i will drive my 'dodge" ugh !!

 

Sorry to hear about that, I'm a firefighter and when I saw that post I thought for sure something way worse than just front end damage.

Hope this makes everyone on here realize how important seatbelts are-you can't control the idiots on the road, but you CAN do your best to protect yourself. Hope for the best plan for the worst.

I'll get off my soapbox now, glad to hear you're alright. Might be a pain in the *** to rebuild your T, but at least you know the guy that hit you also has a pretty sore *** by now...

Glad to hear your alright! I got hit head -on 7 or 8 years back in my SWEEEET beater 73 Datsun pickup and it messed me up for awile. The lady that hit me was a tweaked out on somethin when she hit me!!!

Any pics of it before the ***hole hit you? I have a Track T also. It scares the **** out of me to be in traffic sometimes.

 

Send him some soap on a rope in jail, and cut the rope down to about 1"
