While trolling with Yahoo, I found this site. It picked up a 11/26/04 msg from Spooky about his neighbor owning a Denimachine. I left a msg there. I'M a former Denimachine owner (1981-86) and I started a registry of Denimachine owners. I didn't have much interest on them until one recently sold on e-bay for $1500.00. If you know where one is now, seen one in the past, or know of some one who owned one, I would like to here from you. I'll check here or I can be reached at arthurnikkiblum@aol.com...thanks, Arthur
I saw the one on e-bay. Quite a mess. At the same time there was another listed for sale. craigslist perhaps. Check the messages from a couple months in the for sale section at vannin.com. I'm at work but if you can't find it, I'll look later.
If that is the van that sold for $1500.00, it is now in Illinois. That owner nows owns 2 Denimachines. Didn't think about checking craiglist. But if that is the one for sale in Michigan for $10,000.00 and 53,000 milage, it's been for sale for over a year.
I got about a half dozen of these JL's from Toys R' Us. I'm looking for info on The Real Thing (pardon the pun!!). Arthur
I have seen 3 Denimachines on ebay in the past several months. One sold, two did not. I saw one p*** through my town one day a few years ago but have not seen it since. Although not the prettiest or most relaible vans, or easiest to find the unique parts for, it seems their rarity and the nostalgia factor should warrant higher value than what they sell (or don't sell) for.
There's one in Vancouver B.C.,but what's it got to do with pre 1964 Traditional Hot Rods ? READ THE RULES!!!
I'm sorry if I offended anyone by inquiring about a Denimachine('76 Ford van). I have looked over every screen and location on the site and cannot find any "rules" stating that all post must be for pre'64 traditional hot rods. Could someone please direct me to it? AAaahhh, while I'm here, I might as well plug Cruisin' the Coast here in southern Mississippi. Over 4500 cars will be here next week. Happy Hot Roddin' to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't sweat it 84. There are a number of old Vanners and younger people who just like them on here and your keeping it to a single post anyway...plus you were very up front with how you found the site etc. Your not forcing anything on us... I doubt most people here have a problem helping out a fellow Hot Rod lover, even if the rig your looking for at this time is a little off topic! MIGHT want to rethink doing a buildup post after you find one though!!! Hahaha Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. Actually, I'm a little more comfy over at El Camino Central. I have several friends that are helping me customize the '84 to a Choo-Choo custom, and they are Rat Rodders!!!! You know, pre-49, grey primer, wide whites and like me, they never finish building. It a money pit, I tell you!!!!!!!!!! Why, an Elky...the wife(of 44 years) likes them...go figure!! Arthur
I was going thru Jalpopyjournal and saw a msg from Dog427435. I would like to hear more info on the Denimacine wreck.
The pre 65 thing aka pre '64 is for the cl***ifieds, it seems to have taken on it's ownlife on the main board. This site is about hot rods and traditional customs though....the DenimMachine is a factory built custom but not quite right for this sight. On the other hand the HAMB family is so large that I'm sure you will be able to get some good leads on finding one (in a PM) The brian power and contacts here are extremely impressive.
I remember someone having one of those in my hometown of Dauphin, Manitoba when they first hit the streets back in the 70's. I thought they were cool back then, but I was only 14 at the time.
Yeah,it's pre 64-65,but what about all the motorsickles on here with a sister forum right over the hill...
Ford vans not reliable...are you nuts? We had one for a shop truck that had over 300,000 on it when we sold it. Toughest vehicle I've ever seen!
