I know this is a 26 to 28 Chevrolet. From what I can tell the running gear is from a 26 (casting dates), the engine has a 1928 casting date. Looks like it has been through the mill. Obviously used on a farm for a period. I kind of think it may have been a roadster. I have a hole at the very rear in the bed that looks like where the filler neck went at one time. The windshield is definitely of the roadster open top variety. The GMC emblem is just something someone added on (I believe). What do you think? Light delivery truck, Roadster, Open Touring, etc? http://picasaweb.google.com/joptaylo/Chevy2628/photo?authkey=suMQcndIR2s#5115784592365328786 http://picasaweb.google.com/joptaylo/Chevy2628/photo?authkey=suMQcndIR2s#5115785120646306210 http://picasaweb.google.com/joptaylo/Chevy2628/photo?authkey=suMQcndIR2s#5115785150711077298 http://picasaweb.google.com/joptaylo/Chevy2628/photo?authkey=suMQcndIR2s#5115785185070815682 I have searched awhile and there really isn't that much info out there on these early Chevys, at least that I can find. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I guess the 26 casting numbers on the running gear could have been made late 26 for the 27 model year. The motor replaced at some other point in time. Do you have any idea about the body type?
It was a roadster or touring with that cowl and windsheild. If the rear fenders are the ones that were on it when new they should help tell if it was a roadster or touring.
Thanks, What is the difference between the two rear fenders? Is there a difference in wheelbase length? I am trying to decide whether to hunt down a body or leave as is.... it was converted to a truck using wood at some point in its life. The body was discarded. The vehicle has a lot of character, but not very usable. I actually got the thing to run today.
