Sorry for the old B&W pic, but I was just wondering what this car might be worth, or if anyone had any opinions on if it could be saved or should just be parted out and s****ped. Knowing the usual at***ude around here I have a good idea what people will say - what t-bird? there's nothing left! - but humor me a bit anyways. There's a reason for it.
Funny but I'm gettig ready to pound out a front panel between the headlights to save someone here in town $700. He hit something pretty hard & is buying a new bumper & splash shield. I told him i'll fix that & then cut it out to replace it with a new one if he thinks it necessary.
If the rear quarters are good, they are probably worth 500-1,000, maybe more. TBird frames usually don't rust out so I don't think there is a big demand for them, maybe 500. The rear and front end parts are worth something, but I have no idea how much. There is a guy up here that has been looking for a decent front splash apron. They are hard to find and are not reproduced so it may be worth a couple hundred.
I think it depends greatly on what came on the Bird. For example, if it was an E series or supercharger car it would be worth a lot! Mike
I'm guessing that this car was wrecked years ago.if rust is not a major issue,it should be worth 3k.It might even bring 5k at Hershey or Carlisle.Just my humble opinion. V7 (Steve)
ANYTHING can be fixed...but to fix that one another one must be found to supply the donor parts. THAT might be the biggest issue on rebuilding it...***uming you have the skills to rebuild it in the first place. If you did find a car to s****...I'd bet it would be tempting to rebuild the donor tub instead once both were on the ground beside each other. That car have sentimental value for you?
Guys have started with less....... Kiwi Kev started with a glovebox door on friday and had a car made by monday!! That said, that **** should buff right out!!!
Odds are, it would have frame rot and rust all over. And unless the T-bird frame is a lot heavier than the regular p***enger car frame, they can rot out.
That's definitely a source for pieces/ parts. Save every damn screw. (SOMEONE needs it) Every original T-bird frame I've seen in the last 10+ years has or has had a rust issue in front of the rear wheel kick ups, on both sides. Fortunately repair isn't too big a deal- Does that still have the soft top frame intact??? -Betruger-
But that '34 Cabriolet everyone's screamed about, which ain't much different except where it's missing stuff, the edges are rusty... is?
the difference between the 34 cabro and the t-bird is that rustynewyorker isn't advertising it as a "rare and desireable $7000 car" i couldn't fix it, but i could part it out tk
That Bird would be a tough save, I worked at a T-bird only resto shop for about 5 years, so I know. But every piece on that car has some resale value, so parting it out would make you a nice pile of money. There isn't a single piece of that car that you couldn't resell. My old boss even sold a few windshield frames and x-members out of the ch***is. Not junk for sure, but would be more work than it's worth to fix. Piece it out, you'll find buyers.
