I just bought a 1953 Ford Customline with a straight six. I heard this motor is a 215 ("Milage Maker Six). Is this a flathead motor? i need to get a correct fuel pump for it. any help on these motors would be appreciated.
    Thanks

go to your local kragen, any half decent parts place will stock a pump for that thing

True it only has one valve cover. It is an overhead valve Ford six. The first year of an OHV ford if I'm not mistaken

Those are good engines. Factory rated at 101 horse, compared to 110 for the flathead V-8 the same year.

    Congrats on the new ride!

didn't know inline-6s had more than one valve cover. maybe your thinking of the pushrod cover?

When I was in the Army-'61 I drove a truck with a 606 cubic inch inline six. It had two 3 cylinder heads and two valve covers. In fact my current Dodge/***mins pickup has six valve covers.

I had one of those in my 53. It was a great motor and with overdrive got amazing gas mileage. Many parts from the 54 and up 223 with also interchange It would probably still be in the car but when I used to stop at the gas station it was to check the gas and put in oil
