I've just gotten back into "hot rods". Had lots of good friends growing up that I would donate parts and labor to but then, got married, moved away, had kids, couldn't afford a hot rod. I have only met a couple of local guys and would help them if I can, but my car isn't ready for the road yet so I haven't got out there to meet a lot of folks but I'm willing to try to help if I can.

  3. ez ... no friends , no help , no deals gone astay ..
this is because my so called former friends , did not help me as much as i helped them .even if i bought all the beer..sold the rare parts i gave them when they realized they were worth some real $$$... then sold the cars before asking me if i would buy them ...
friends are ez to get but old cars may not be

as i have been told just cuz you know them they may not be your friend .. just aquaintences

CUSTOMERS: pay you, and it takes 1 week for the job to be done.

REAL FRIENDS: pay you, buy some beer, takes 3 weeks

REALLY GOOD FRIENDS: pay you, then tip you really well, takes 6 weeks or so..........., take you out to eat when it is done, bring you bbq at lunch a couple of times, and when there are issues as there always are with old cars, is totally really cool and understanding about it.

You did say we are really good friends, right?

Hey Skratch hopefully he'll find another POS for you to work on,
and he'll have paid off his credit card,
so you can have him buy some tools to conveniently leave at your shop.

    ****, what a depressing thread :D

Just do to others what you'd like done right back. Kinda simple. Everyone gets just one chance, no do-overs I'm afraid. My wife forgives everyone (dont all women) but I hold grudges ;)

That's a good idea Dave, I'm filing that one away for future reference.

    True story-

This pal has an El Camino with a 350. No big thing...but it's not running right. My stuff blew up, so I've got a slew of SBC parts laying around. Some used, some new.

Well, this guy is driving this ElCo every day, and he's clueless under the hood. So, I spend a day with him under the hood...I bust out my best carb and a brand new MSD box and we get this thing running sweet. Better than it's ever run before he tells me.

So he sells it, and my MSD box and carb go with it.

I still give him **** about it to this day, and I always will. It was a lowdown, ditry move no 'friend' would ever do. He saw that cash money and got dumber than a drunk with a hard-on at a strip joint on payday, and while I helped him out with other stuff down the road, I never contributed to his 'projects' again because he'd probably sell it.

    Screw me once...shame on me...
