Thank You FL Poor Boys!!! and Degenerators!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 4t64rd, Sep 29, 2007.

  1. The FL Poor Boys had another get together and I was the lucky ******* who got to host it (I am NOT being facetious!)

Lucky in that the FL Poor Boys (all of them live about and hour and a half north of me) and the Degenerators (who came from about an hour east of me) came to my barn to eat my **** *** breakfast, hang out, and work on MY car.

I hope I thanked everybody, and I apologize if I didn't catch you, but you guys don't know how much I appreciate everything you guys did for me. I've never had anybody ever offer to come over and help me, let alone just go to town without me having to do much of anything except to point out where the parts are and tools are.

The barn is hot, dirty, dusty, my tools are cheap or just don't have 'em, I'm pretty much clueless and disorganized, But you guys came and did it anyway and I appreciate it.

    Who was there:
Poor Boys; Glenn (AHotRod), Dave (Rooster), Mike (HotRod Mike), John (Wiley Coyote), Skip (Skip-O-Matic) and Brian (SoberToolguy)
Degenerators; John (DV8), Tim (MBL), Ralph and Travis

    Thank you guys!

They got my '46's ch***is 3 fittings away from a finished brake system (I will finish it up tomorrow), 1 fitting away from a fuel system, AND gave me a clear path to get the steering finished, and so much advice that I'm still writing down notes as I recall it. They also gave me a huge push to get my ten year project on the road.

I didn't get any pics of the actual thrash (I was kinda busy), But I got a few of before the action started.

    Hey Big Mike,
The breakfast grub was just fine. Looked like you just needed a little help and a push in the right direction. You'd be nuts if ya' don't take Glenn up on his offer. That car would make a huge leap towards being as driver if it was there for a couple of weeks. :D
Thanks for the pics. Oh yeah, I have a couple of stock rear end vents if ya' still need one. Mike

Not a problem! We had a good time. I think we need to do that a couple of more times, and you would be good to go.

  5. You guys will be surprised the next time you see it, all the little niggling questions that were holding me back were answered today.

I found the one brake fitting, and I'm going to get the other three tomorrow morning. The brakes will be a sealed system by noon Sun.
and I will find that damn bracket that tommorow.... Arrrgh!

Don't forget to wrap the **** out of those adapters with thread tape. Especially the ones on the residual valves.

  7. Got it! Fuel line ****oned up, need one fitting and I can stop.

Those McGriddle things that sat out in the sun for 3 hours are good cold the next day!

Hey...we had a good time....Nice to see everyone out there and working. A lot can get done when its not your car and you don't car how it comes out. :)

We need to talk a bit more about realistically getting that car done and on the road. The "needs to be a certain way" and the "eventually I'd like it to look like" stuff should really be addressed.

    You are really close.

No pictures from me this time.....my Canon is down and awaiting the RGA to return to Canon for repairs.

Organization, direction, components, and execution are all that is needed to finish it off.

If you turn Brian loose with a box of DA paper, and supply the correct materials, it will be in color defore you know it.

Just emagine what can be accomplished in a 2-day flog with all the right parts available ..........

    NEXT !!!!!

Hey Glenn...Hope you got back ok with your new fixture. I couldn't figure out where you were gonna put him for the ride back. Great working with you on that car! We need to get you folks down to the ranch to swing some wrenches and have some BBQ!

  11. Now that I have seen what a Poor Boys thrash looks and feels like I know how better to prepare. It was just ***es and elbows, and I was scurrying as fast as I could to locate parts and tools. I could have been more help if I was organized, and knew where everything was.

Next time, everything laid out on tables, cleaned and test fit, an extension cord for the welder, a set of torches, extra sheet metal and steel, an ***ortment of #10 and smaller sheet metal and machine screws and nuts, Instructions for everthing that is a kit, better drill bits, more clean rags, more lights, MORE FANS!, better food, more Coke..., and more than $6 in the checking account for incidentals

I also need to have a plan as far as to what the car needs to do. Go, steer and stop is fine, but upgrades have to be planned for.

You getting all this stuff newbies?

Another good time was had by all day. Glad we got you motivated and even got some work done. If we had that thing at Glenns it would be a driver in no time at all.

Mike, sorry I could not make it. I would have loved to come over and help(what little bit it would have been), but I had to work on my trailer and get it ready for Sumter County this next weekend.
    Maybe next time.
Ralph and Travis had a good time.

I'm glad she liked the Tiki..I was a bit worried..everyone's taste is different when it comes to that stuff. Traditional/non-Traditional...island specific and such...

I'll be making more as time permits...soon we will have a Tiki village :) I am sure that I will have to carve a bunch of stuff for that T Sedan.

Way to go Poor Boys, that's what a CLUB is all about. Big Mike, we need progress pictures as you get it together.

  22. Once it stops and steers, I'll take some pics.

Once the guys told me which parts I have that are superfluous, I know can fence them to buy the last few big things it needs.

For the little stuff, I can do "freelance" work...

Nads once said that you're not gay unless it's gone soft in your mouth...The context of that conversation...I can't quite remember...but it was in the woods. :)

Like Glenn said, let me loose with the proper tools and materials and your head will spin. I have a few pictures to share but they are mainly of the ride down there and the ride everyone showed up in.

For those who are interested six of us met up at the Dunkie's by Rooster's shop.

Then we all proceeded south to Mikes Place....

Upon arriving at Big Mikes, we were greeted by Mike and everyone else who beat us there. The yard filled up nicely if I do say so myself.
So we ventured in to see what we had to work with.

today project happens to be Mikes 46 Ford Tudor Sedan. The body is a little rough looking, but amazingly doesn't have any rot and only a few small spots of surface rust. My 46's Floor pans are very envious. Before we all got to work on the car mike promised us food. so eat we did. out of his marshmallow trailer that is..
After this I put away my camera and got to work, so thats all I got.

Take a look at the front tire, it is still holding air, even with weight on it.
