    Question for you Newport Experts?

The Hill Climb in Newport Indiana is going on this weekend. Is it better to go on Saturday or Sunday?

    How is the swap meet?

    How about the auction?

Any info on when stuff starts?

Either day is good to go as far as seeing cars. Officially Sat. is practice and Sun. is the Hill Climb so the Hillclimb cars are there both days. These cars are all "stock" but you do get to see some nice cars. The car show may be better on Sun. The car auction is Sat. at Noon, not a big deal usually about a dozen cars but you never know what might show up. As far as the swap meet it is really a flea market, there is usually only a couple of people with car stuff and there is some of the new flea market **** but there is enough good old stuff that I always find something. Any more questions just let me know. Jeff

Saturday is time trials and practice.
Sunday is the actual timed runs.

As far as a swap meet it is more of a flea market atmosphere. There are yard sales all over town. Some have car parts, most dont. There are quite of few houses over the years who have always had cool advertising collectibles and automobilia for sale.

I will most likely not make it this year.

GMC Bubba (Jim Linder) is most likely already there. I tried to get ahold of him last night but he was not home. If you go, be sure to go behind the lions club in the alley and see Bubba. You cant miss him, he will have his Bubbas garage set up where he does repairs and service for the contestants. I bet there is a box of moonpies there somewhere to.

I think Sunday is the day for me. I will be in my red/white 58 Chevy, say howdy if you see me. I am going to Bubba's to get a Moonpie.

You can't lose either day really. Just like everyone has said, Saturday is time trials and practice, Sunday is the actual timed runs.

I enjoy going on Saturday as there seem to be more cars and more stuff going on in town not to mention the after dark fun and the top secret big wheel society. :D
