I have heard that Zephyr springs are just fine, and I have also heard others recommend the *double springs*.........and you also need to shim for precise adjustment...... But I'd go to the Red's Headers site and see the recommendations there..... http://www.reds-headers.com/html/flathead_eng.html Also, check out Isky's recommendations: http://www.iskycams.com/pdfcatalog/nav_2005.html#camseries
I have a drag race stroker 8BA with a 400 jr. I have single isky springs.I also have aluminum retainers and hollow lifters. never any float problems. The doubles aren't needed and are a pain in the ass. Not just my opinion, I had the doubles and Flatdog(HAMB flathead guru) told me I didn't need them so I replaced them with the singles and works great. Brad
