Who makes good mustang II drop spindles? I'm assuming Heidts are among the best but I've seen other steel ones for about $100 or so less. I'm not thinking about cheaping out on such a big safety related item I'm just curious.
I had bought some of the cheaper forged dropped ebay spindles. They say they work on a stock mustang II but its not true! The brake lines from the caliper hit the spindle. You can see on the Hiedts and I think some other name brands a different shape at the top. The cheaper ones have a solid block look at the top - where the better ones have a curved shape. This curved shape is there to allow the brake line to pass by without hitting. If you are going to change to bigger brakes than it may not be a big deal. I was going to run the stock brakes until this happened now I am upgrading to the bigger brakes. Its for the best in my case anyways - just was not planning on doing it now. not sure about the safety aspect. But you have to figure many production car suspension parts are made over seas. They say they are forged. (Sure they could lie.)
I used Hiedts. Sometimes, its cheaper NOT to go with the cheaper part. If you dont understand, read the post above a couple more times.
Good to know, I do have the big brake kit already and the lines are run so I didn't want issues there. I had noticed that some of the other makes looked a little different at the top and the caliper/backing plate mount was angled wierd. Thanks for the input, Heidts it is.
