as we all know wally parks ( founder of the n.h.r.a.) died last week so I thought that I would take my 30 roadster over to the n.h.r.a twilight cruise see whats up! I know I have to get there early because it gets packed pretty early, so I get there and find an end spot right on the main road in front of the museum so I think I'm cool, go into the museum check out some car's I come out 45 min. later and some ***hole in a zillion dollar 55 Chevy park's on the out side of me! almost in the road! I want to kick his teeth down his throat! but I keep my mouth shut and try to have a good time after all I only have a primered lakes style traditional roadster! if any of you have been to this cruise you know there is a lot of very high dollar cars there. so around 6:30 I'm getting ready to leave and this guy from the n.h.r.a. walks up and asks me to fill out this form, I say what is it? his says' we picked 3 cars out of all the ones' here tonight and yours is one of them! we will call your name at 7:00 so next thing I know I'm up on the podium talking about my car right on the front step's of the museum I'm thinking how f#@king cool is this! then the guy hands me a Budweiser Jacket and tells me I get to drive my car down the 1320 at the Pomona for the 2007 auto club finals in the parade of cars! at this point I'm thinking what ***hole in the 55!
Cool deal, you may want to edit your threads ***le though...........Ryan doesnt like four letter words in them.
That's funny! I had the same thing happen to me here in Missouri (the ***hole in the car, not the award) There's a local cruise night at a burger joint here called Eddies. Right after I moved here, I took my roadster to the cruise, thought I'd meet the locals. I got lucky and had an end spot, right next to the street. I thought cool, I can leave when I want. I go in to eat, come out about 20 min. later, and some douche bag in a pink and baby blue 55 Ford parks next to me, on the ****ing sidewalk. The cruise ****ed, I left, and haven't went back. I've been her 5 years.
Hahahahaha...just goes to prove that all the $$$$ in the world can't overcome cl***... Tell me the ***hole's '55 was red with Floyd Cotterpin rims too....
u should have mentioned him in ur speech...his stupidity is probably what drew the judges over to that area, and when they saw ur sweet little roadster, they probably thought "what high$$$$ 55???" next show, I'm gonna look for that guy and park RIGHT next to him then stay till 11 pm! I hope when he tries to get in his car, he doesn't scratch my.......I beat him to it......hahahahahaaaa
My wife won a big deal, next to a guy with a 30K paint job. He put it on the traler, and said "**** I'l throw some primer on and add some rust, maybe I could get a prize".....Thats whats its all about..?....OLDBEET
It's Kharma ..man. you could have kicked the 55 but the gods were watching and rewarded your patience. The owner of the 55 exhibited bad kharma ,pride etc and was punished.
Guys park next to a cool little roadster like that just hoping some of the attention it gets rubs off on their car. I'd hate to be like that, always desperately craving attention from people with my car because I ain't getting it from the wife, at home. But it all worked out for you, the right people saw your car and liked it and you got a cool experience out of it. Around here people park like that just to go into Wal-mart, a dude the other night parks and leaves his car in the yield zone in front of the door to go buy something. So maybe he was just a lazy *******.
Very cool. Saw your roadster last Sat. morning at the early show. One of the nicest I've seen so far. Congrats!
Its really cool that you got the recognition at a NHRA event. Just proves that some of them do have the right stuff running through their veins. That aside you have one awesome car there and you can be proud of it in any company.

I'm curious--if parking spots were so plentiful, why were you parked on the end? Why did you get there early? So the guy made his own parking place, squeezing in on the end. You said he parked "almost in the road." Not exactly a "safe" place for the guy to park, especially in a high-dollar car. I'd give him props for staying there rather than driving home because he couldn't take up two spaces somewhere. Now tell me, if you had gotten there ten minutes later, and '55 Chevy guy got there 10 minutes earlier and got your spot, would you have thought about parking where he did? I know I would have. I'm about sick of the whole cl***-envy bull ****. And it goes both ways, too; you ***** about the high dollar cars, they ***** about the primered cars. Why don't you all shut the **** up, do your own thing and enjoy the show? I've NEVER cared what someone spent on something. I see guys that can spend that kind of money, and I'm thinking "Okay, he did it...what can I do to make that kind of jack?" It's a lot more productive than ******* and moaning about what someone else spent. -Brad
That's a great story! Congratulations for recognition well deserved! BTW, I NEVER use four letter in my posts!...my Mom reads these posts every day and would kill me!
Congratulations! Nice car Well deserved and its always great to see a homebuilt win over any big money shop car. I had the same thing happen to me... Five years ago worked like hell to get my coupe finished for a big show here. Setting across from a beautiful well build 33 sedan..probably around 125 g's I won the best of show that year. I'll never forget it. I love it!
Very kewl...was anyone there with ya to get a pic of you going down the track? Congrats man ...Hell of a story to tell for many years
No...beater daily driver '62 Suburban, building a suede black and white '57 2dr wagon g***er, and have a '54 Buick that has wasted paint, a tired interior and the engine on a stand right now. When I can afford to build a Billet Mobile, I take the money and make the Suburban nicers and have a blown 392 built for the g***er. -Brad
I doubt in the spirit and honor of Wally Parks, Wally would not have declared "I'd like to kick his teeth down his throat".
hey brad54, it's not about how much the guy in the 55 spent on his car it's about respect for the guy who left early to get a good parking spot! parking spots are not plentiful at this show so the guy in the 55 leaves his house late pulls in and thinks screw this guy it's only a primered car and mines better so I will park where I feel like it! I don't care if it's a kid in a piece of **** vw! if his there first I'm not going to block his car because I think mines better! and needs to be seen more then someone Else's! you know there's a lot of very cool car guys out there with very expensive cars who would of said "hey you mind if I park here"again it's about respect! we've all said to ourselves what hell was that guy thinking when he built that! but it doest mean we show disrespect because we think our cars better! remember were all car guys weather we buy them or build them.
Just goes to show its not how much you spend that matters but how well you spend what you have. Congrats on the recognition. As for the other guy, some one needs a lesson in courtesy plain and simple. And that doesnt just apply to cars but life in general........
