Just got a call from Dirty31. He said hot_rod_artist (Casey) broke down in the Granbury area just off 377. Looks like he needs an axle from an 8" Maverick rear. He thinks it's the driver side.

If you're in the area and have something that might work, call Dirty31 (Rusty) at 214-537-7423 or Casey at 512-825-5547.

    Thanks, Yall!

Just an update. Casey's pal in Ft Worth, the one he staying with for the weekend, is on his way to pick him up with a trailer. He's sitting on the side of the road still. He thinks he might have everything covered BUT not sure yet. He'll need the axle in the Ft Worth area for replacement.

Got off the phone with Colin. His buddy is on the way like Denise stated. I have found a Maverick Rearend but I have to wait till 4 to get the drivers side axle. It is broke off inside edge of bearing so it is gonna be hard to get out. He will be staying in Keller this weekend. I am sure he is hoping to get it back on the road for the show tomorrow and better yet for the ride home. Yall keep yall ears and eyes open for a rearend close to FT Worth area or some axles.

If you can't find an axle let me know and I can look at my yard in Mansfield.

Worse case I'll pull one out of the Model A so he can get home since I am driving the ElCamino these days anyway.

    According to this:

    http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2006/04/9Inch/index.php

The Maverick rear (if that's what it is) should be 56 1/2" wide axle flange to axle flange. The driver side axle they got was 26-1/8" from the outside of the flange to the end of the axle. If you subtract the difference of the length of the Mustang rear and the Mav rear, you should be looking for an axle that's 25-11/16", right?

Stan Hopkins rules. He replaced the spider gears in my 8" and recently cut a driveshaft for 67ImpWagon's A coupe.

I was thinking about this last night trying to figure out what I'd do in the situation. You say the axle broke off just even/behind the bearing? How the heck did you manage to get it out? One way I could figure would be to weld onto the end of the axle stub something you could grip and pull it by some means. That or yank the other side and drive a smaller bar through the gear cluster to pop it out from the rear.

    Do tell. Or pics even.

well found a new use for a rock digging bar !
we could not get it out from the d.s. so we pulled the p.s. axel out and nocked it out from the other side, poped right out !
I will post some pictures when I get home ! hell it`s only friday morning ? it sjust starting !:)
