How long on a rebuilt engine?

I have a potentially stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway. I have a 327 small block that I got rebuilt about a year ago. It's hasn't been started and is sitting in my garage. It's going to be probably another year before I can fire it up. What should I do to keep it stored properly? Should I dump oil in it an prime it? Is there any kind of time limit a freshly rebuild engine can sit before things start going south?

That depends on many things, like how it was prepped and the environment in which it's stored. Prepped and stored properly, it would be no problem for years. ***uming all of that is good, prime it when you're ready to use it and all should be well.

The rebuild was done properly. Quality machine shop, etc.. It's currently living in my garage which is dry and heated. I put a manifold on it and carb, and any other holes I taped up.

  4. put a little oil in the cylinders and turn it over once and a awhile. the rebuilt motor in my `28 tudor sat for 6 years before i started driving the car
