Saw black smoke pouring from a neighbors building a few days ago...finally got over there with my camera. Turns out the guys where having a new roof put on and started a fire..No one knew how to put it out and it caught just the one room on fire before the firemen put it out...too bad it was the room with the cars people care about...This is actually a used car lot in Pasadena, CA that really doesnt do old cars but every fewmonths they tow in a car or two that they get running and sell...heres the pics I took!

  9. The steel in those early cars was pretty tough, I wouldnt write off that touring car, or whatever it is, just yet. I mean it still looks better than the **** I drag out of the woods around here, chances are it would be fine for a hot rod if it was cleaned up and put back in primer before it has a chance to rust too much. Don't get me wrong, it's probably warped some from the body wood burning out of it, but replace it with steel and you'd be in business. Even burned the tin is still thicker than if it sat outside rusting since being abandoned in 1935.

The '59 is probably junk but I'd check the rearend out before I s****ped it. It might be able to donate floors or rocker panels to someone with a rusted out east coast car, too.

The key is mostly how hot the fire got - I've seen stuff that was burned that looked a hell of a lot worse than these do. It's a ****ty situation, but when life hands you lemons, why not try to make lemonade?

Perhaps ABBA could be Bjorn again?

it was good that some one had the presence of mind to 'ring ring' the firebrigade,
so they extinguish the fire with some 'waterloo',
and as all car people know " Love isn't easy( but it sure is hard enough',)

After all... 'I have dream that she could once again become a "dancing queen" ,and a real 'honey honey,
Although it may take efforts of a 'super trouper' to get her going it may just be 'hasta manana'......

    Hey SloppyDude,
You sure that fire didn't start when you and "Peaches" were free-basing and lighting farts?

It's hard to believe what damage takes place in a fire like that. I went through one in the early 70s.

The tail shaft of a 4 spd actually melted and sagged. The air inside a drive shaft expanded until the tube blew open. The sockets lost all their temper and just striped out when we tried to remove bolts from the engines. The valve springs on previously running engines could be compressed by pushing hard with your thumbs.

I had a 39 Willys sitting on jack stands at the cowl. The weight of the 396 engine just bent the frame down until it hit the concrete.

    It's unbelievable.
