Prior Lake is in Scott County (and I think it is fairly central so Scott would likely include most surrounding areas. The Scott County Sheriff's office:

    http://www.co.scott.mn.us/wps/portal/ShowPage?CSF=1237

They would probably be the best place to start as there are a few places that are close to Prior Lake and in general the City Police only deal with City things.

Did the fellow post an ad on the HAMB? Could you link to his ad? Maybe I can call the guy, I can suggest that I saw his ad -- maybe he will try to sell it to me also?

My phone search did not turn up any Paul Webster near Prior Lake, but there are several Websters in and around Prior Lake, so it still may be hard for the County Sheriff to do much -- unless they have had other issues with the fellow.

If you have information of his bank account or the information on the funds transfer the police can go from there.
If the transaction is over $500 it is a gross misdeameno .
If the transaction took place through the US postal system there could be mail fraud and could be persued through the US POST office.

    Hope this helps.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. You never know what kind of emergency situation could have caused something like this to happen where you can't get a hold of him.

My recommendation? Call the police and say that you can't get a hold of the guy, and that you gave him money for parts. Mention that you don't necessarily think that dude stole your cash and ran, but that you can't get a hold of him, and ask for some help at least contacting him.

Thats exactly how Im feeling MPLS. I'm still hoping this is all cool. Its costing me real cash as I have a container waiting on this stuff for shipping and guys here wanting thier stuff.

Its just that he has failed to respond to numerous requests and phone calls. It aint too hard to pick up a phone and give me a quick call.

I will give it to the end of the week before going to the cops, something I'm loathed to do.

cops arent going do shit they won't waste there time to track this guy down its in the same catogory as cats stuck up in a tree. at least what barny fife would do around in my neck of the woods i would call the court house's around the diffrent countys and find addresses for people with the same name . and call one by one just to narrow it down. but just don't leave it to the local brass to find the guy.

Maybe in Podunk, MN that's how things work, but not everywhere.

You'd be suprised how helpful people can be when you're not an ass when contacting them. ;)

It's called "social engineering". You should research it... it's a pretty helpful tool.

Sadly I have now involved the Fed's (international fraud) in this mess. Will go through the correct channels and see how I go.

Again, was there an ad that I can use to contact him from? Did he have more stuff for sale? If he has stuff for sale it cant hurt for me to contact him because it will be a legit inquiry -- If I can get him to meet me I could give you all the relevant info on him.

    MN Falcon,

I remember seeing an ad in the classifieds for a 392 hemi that Paul Webster was selling. I don't know if the ad is still in the classifieds or not, but that would be a place you could check. Just do a search under user names for Paul Webster as that was how he was registered on the HAMB - under his own name.

    Good Luck,

    Thor

The info in the classifieds is: 952-239-7522 or pcwebster7@hotmail.com

I did a reverse look-up on whitepages.com on the phone number and found out its a Sprint cell phone number. They do show some listings on that site and dex.com for Paul Webster and P Webster in MN, but I can't be sure if any of them are the Paul Webster you're looking for.

This is just wierd then. It's not like he's trying to hide behind a fake name or anything.

I also live in Scott County. If there's anything I can do to help you out Pete, just say the word.

Thanks to a memeber here I just spoke with a relative of his, who although a little unhelpful said he would pass on a message. I have tried his cell numerous times and get "mail box full". I must re-itterate that I'm hoping this will work out OK and that something is up with him that means he cant get in touch.
