I've got some freshly chromed exaust pipes. Can anyone tell me the name of the ceramic product for keeping the discoloration down? Produst that you pour into the pipes? Any other tricks? Thanks!

Thanks, you rule. All my biker friends told me of the trick, and my hot rod buddies said I don't know. Appreciate it!
You? With something chrome? What is the world coming to? There's also a product that will remove most if not all of the blue from chrome if it does turn a little but. Again, a biker product that I don't know the name of. But it does exsist!
I worked as a parts manager at an aftermarket H-D shop for about 8 years, I was asked the same question almost 3 times a day. I have found that the products that remove the 'blue' from chrome pipes are actually removing the chrome, not reccommended. The stuff that 'Cycle Shack' makes to line the pipes beforehand, the powdered stuff, works the best as long as you follow the directions exactly as they say. The other stuff that is already in a cream form is kinda weak. Cycle Shack has been around for years, like the 70's era chopper scene, they know what they're talking about. Just make sure you follow the directions. A buddy of mine painted his headers with that 1200 degree spray paint and the paint burned off in a day or so, I tried it using the same color and brand and mine is now 9 months old, still the same color and look pretty good, the difference? I read the can.
I heard the same thing too. It will smoke like crazy until it's baked in but it supposely works. Guys with T-buckets use to do that on their header pipes. I had a Suzuki 1100E and used Bar-B-Que paint poured into the header. Fire the engine until pipes are hot. Allowed to cool and used a second coat. Worked for me.
Actually, having had a custom bike shop for 18 years I found a simple, easy, and clever way to keep pipes from turning short of making sure themotor isn't running lean, is to coat the inside with the same heat paint as on the outside. It will defuse the heat and works very, very well, and you don't have to buy anything else. Don't use grease as it will stink and smoke for quite a while and is really messy. Slow and low mentioned a product, which by the way, is called Blue Away. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT use this as it will remove more of your chrome than the blue, leaving them looking like you just used 120 grit on them. Have been doing my rods for a lotta years with the paint trick and it works great. Now go to it. the Dickster
I think blue, and gold discoloration is cool, and shows it is driven, but opinions are like assholes. (And everyones stinks but mine!) LOL I have heard lemon oil helps remove the blue, and ceramic coating the inside helps also.
Ha, just saw this post pop back up here. I actually decided not use anything and let them go O'natural. Car is purple and blue...so it will match. Not my car, I like black paint.
One other trick is to wipe them down with acetone to strip off any oil(ie finger prints) it will not stop the from turning colors but will not turn as fast and my pipes never got the copper coloring just blue and purple.
