Does anyone know if a pre '48 hot rod / street rod has ever been raced at the Nurburgring in Germany? Just curious
Yupp, Last year a chevy powered 32 3w coupe kicked the hell out of a porsche 996. I think that the coupe was english built. /Eric.
I'd love to see details on that 32 3w setup to kick a 996's ass. Don't doubt it, but just would love to see it for curiosity.
I was just thinking about this as i was playing GT4 going around the Nurburgring track. would be cool to see a video of that ford smokin a porsche
You can run just about anything around the ring. Show up, pay yer fee and around you go. other than that, there are vintage races there all the time. Watched Trans-Am class Mustangs and Camaros catching air coming out of the Green Hole last time I was there.
Was that the really steep bank, Fur Biscuit? if so, i believe it is still there and part of the main course
yes the karousel is still in existence and there for anyone brave enough to take a ride. i was saddened to be in germany this year and not get to visit the most famous racetrack in the world, oh well more reason to go back! matt

The Nascar Returns to Lemans Project headed by Christophe Schwartz has been there with a 72 Charger . They were also at Monza and a few other tracks in Europe. I hear from him from time to time as i supplied their practice car engine, also another 72 Charger. Not a old time hot rod but a classic none the less. The practice car is an actual charger not a tube frame skinned deal. It has doors even. There is quite a bit of Youtube in car video on the web.
If you squint real hard you can almost see a early track-nosed coupe in this pic. This car held/holds the N-RING track record at around 7 min. Built by Donkervoort in the Netherlands, it is a pretty basic tubular space frame design, as compared to the high zoot carbon fiber/unobtanium cars of the Porches, BMWs etc. that vie for the record.
there was only one "hotrod" on the nurburgring and that was 70 years ago , it was built by porsche though
I can't believe some of you guys are so gullible! Hahahahaha!! a '32 3w with a Chevy motor blowing away a Porche... hahahahahaha!!! DOH!
there is a video on youtube of a 996 getting pulled by a VW van with a GT3 motor in it. Now thats some weird shit, and embarrassing too.
for a while there was some you tube videos of the mercedes silver arrows (period stuff) running around the nurburgring
Hey, I just came back form there!! I'll have to look through the pics I took of the museum (pretty crappy museum) to see if they have any pics of early cars running there. Dave
