I have a Flatty out of a 51 Shoebox with a 3 speed overdrive. What kit need I use to convert it to a floor shifter? I'm looking at the Mr Gasket MRG-7667....any help?? Thanks guys.... http://www.midwayautosupply.com/pm-232-25-mr-gasket-pick-up-truck-3-speed-manual-floor-shifter.aspx
I must be for an overdrive tranny, standard 3 speed will not work. I think it due to the solenoid or governor.
It's going in a '33 pickup...why do you say I might not like it? Just curious as to your reasoning...thanks for your time.
Personally, I like the column shift from the shoebox, in my A coupe. It was a relatively easy install and leaves more room in a small cab. FUN TOO!! <embed width="448" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://img.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v104/overspray/100_0303.flv"></embed>
I have one of those transmissions in the garage, but the OD is cable-engaged, I would think a regular universal floor shift would work on it - but I'd get out the shop manual and review how the overdrive works to see if you can just put a dash switch on the solenoid, or would have to do something else.
