My brother is a happy camper lately. He has made a ton of progress on his T. My dad & I built him a frame last christmas, and my dad gave him a glass body, front & rear axle, & radius rods. Well my dad & him got the frame, motor, and all suspension stuff sprayed, and today got it all assemble in shiny color It really looks great I think, and my brother is on cloud nine. It will be his first rod, he has always been a mustang & musclecar guy, but now he's converted to the dark side. Here's a couple pics as it sits. The first one is my brother doing the required sit in it & make engine noises picture after we gave it to him last xmas. I can't wait to hear it fire up. He built a nasty small block ford that he originally was gonna use in a drag mustang, so it should power this little t really nice. Though he (and my dad) painted all the frame/motor, etc, he has the body at a paint shop now getting sprayed, so it should be back in a week or so. It looks like my brother and my dad will both have their cars ready for the turkey rod run, I am real excited for them both Dan
That's coming out sweet Dan, your father and brother have done well! The last 3 pics you posted are red X's when I view it, how about fixing them so we can see more of this beauty!
I love the Ford blue even if it's not chevy orange. You guy's do really nice work. Just don't let Pop's spend all his $$ I want to see that Dodge pickup on the road someday.
Man, the frame and engine color are very cool, when I first saw the body and frame in the motor noises picture I thought, a cool T build, but, then I saw the painted frame and engine and WOW that takes it to the next level !!!!!!!
Hey Thanks Keith. You know what it's missing is the "thief" that was trying to steal your taildragger Your car is looking really nice I know, a ford in a ford, what was he thinking hehe. Yeah my dad is pretty close on the dodge. His T will also be done for Daytona, so it will be nice actually bring two cars for once, even if one is not mine........... Paul, the fronts are merc 15x5's with 5.00/15, the rears are aftermarket 15x7's with H78-15 They are so secret that he won't even tell me........ he was building it for a strip fox body. I will have you find out all his tricks. I know that its a roller engine with an x-cam, and he had a ton of head work done. It should have a nasty idle for sure. I'm not sure how much it is bored though. Thank you for all the nice words guys, I appreciate Dan
I really like the color too, it really jumps out at you in person. Today he is going to start doing some faux patina on the frame today to try to make it look old
hahaha...with your brothers car looking that nice, she's liable to show up in your neighborhood! Thanks, it's slowly getting there. Anything new to share on your project?
I really like the frame set up and engine combo. I have found a T bucket body just like that and was planning on scratch building a frame myself........thanks for the pics and please post updates when you can.
I just saw on another site that this car wrecked because of a chrome steering arm from Speedway?? Anyone know?
In the third picture down from the top it looks like the Panhard rod is going to hit the underside of the passenger frame rail as soon as it gets some load on the springs and they compress a little. And no, the car wasn't wrecked. The dad (Don) had a few scary moments--he was driving it when it broke, but good fortune was with him---the car swerved into the breakdown line and he was able to stop safely. His sons brought out another Pitman arm and they did a roadside swap, then drove it back to the shop.---Brian
The car is fisnished.Thats the one that is in the thread of the broken pitman arm.I got a pic of it somewhere .
I think I peed a little when I saw the blue, it startled me a little bit. Very bright and very Cool!!!!
Thanks man, I'll have to get some updated pics, the car is actually done now. I'll grab some & pm them to you Must have been something my dad posted somewhere. It did not wreck thankfully, BUT the pitman arm did break while the car was driving. I have no freaking idea how this story didn't have a very bad ending, but it didn't, thank god. The arm simply broke. He was only going 35 or so when it happened, and the car went into a turning lane to the right. It hit no other cars, no damage to this car, etc.......... Scary. Once the arm broke, you could clearly see that the arm is cast. And the casting looked to have been porous with some rust visible within the casting. Needless to say, a FORGED arm will go back on the car. I personally never would use anything steering , suspension, & brake related that isn't the safest choice. I always joke with my dad & brother about parts that aren't the best choice to use. I say "that part could kill you", 1/2 joking. This one however kind of proves that point Hello Brian. It is an optical illusion because of the downward angle the picture is taken at. It also appears that the fuel filter is sitting on the rear end, which of course it's not. There is 4" of clearance there. Coilovers definitely will never compress that much
