I will begin with the usual disclaimer. This may be a no-brainer to those of you that have done it before, or seen it done well, but....where is the best place to bring the wiring thru the firewall on my '31 A Coupe? As in high, mid, low and center, outboard. The fuse block is on the p***enger side to unclutter the clutch area as much as possible. I gots big feets..... My inclination is low on the p***enger side, but I don't know what I don't know. I searched on wiring, and it may be there, but I didn't find it. Tks...........slide
I dit it in the center just above the bellhousing area, kinda hid behind the distributor, not too obvious there.
I have a lot of wires in my '31 due to running a crank trigger and fuel injection on the flathead. The fuse block is on the drivers side and the computer is mounted on the p***enger side. I ran wires through both sides of the floorboard on the upslope. I used gromments in the holes and bent sheetmetal to cover them. You can't tell they are there after installing the floor insulation and carpet. I also have four coils mounted on the firewall under the dash and utilized relays to save on the wear of the switches.
I mounted mineon my 1935 PU in the p***enger side also. I ran them through the firewall as low as possible, since ya gotta clamp them to the frame anyway. I had problems with the wires reaching the dash gauges, and Ill bet you experience the same. Im happy with it, but will do the 34 Sedan on the drivers side.
>>>Damn, that looks like a freakin' space shuttle or something>>> Thats exactly what I was thinkin... Nice and neat.....H
Try to hide the wires, you may want to run some out on either side, as necessary. I have mine just above the foot boards on both p*** and drivers sides of my car. They are low enough that my firewall is clean. I hate "**** on the firewall, like coils etc.
Boy Vergil; I bet you get a lot of flat head "nuts" scratching their head trying to figure out why the plug wires run BACKWARDS instead of FORWARDS!! That set-up looks VERY tidy!
Vergil, I'll be wiring my car, maybe in January and that shot of yours just scared the hell out of me! I hope my bucket isn't as complex as yours appears. *gulp*
Our roadster wiring comes up from near the floor, Flower couldn't stand anything but an industrial look so it ended up inside copper tubing. Besides, it really protects the harness from my big feet when I'm doing "co-pilot" duty.
