My 49 Hudson came to me with 1998 Coker Cl***ics in
P235/75R15. They haven't given me a ounce of trouble
and I sure don't spend a bunch of time trying to keep
the whitewalls clean. Did a 2 week 2800 mi. trip this
summer and she drives like a dream,no vibrations at
all even up near 100 mph for short periods:D. I've
seen the other threads where people had issues so
just to be fair I gotta say I'll probably buyem again
someday although these almost 10 year old tires
show no sign of giving out any time soon.:)

Another vote here for the Diamondback Cl***ics. I have the 225/70r15's on my Galaxie and I've been very happy with them, except for the price  .

I don't have any experience with the Coker radials, so no judgement there.

IF you search you can find issues with the Diamondback's as well. I know Rush had some issues and they didn't stand behind them. I also know of a couple other local guys that refuse to use Diamondback anymore. I've personally seen both without issues and both with issues. Coker seems to be a little more willing to stand behind them. and they support the Alliance...

From what I can tell, Coker has really turned their act around within the past year - and even more so the past 6 months alone, not only customer-service-wise, but quality-wise as well.

I may well be willing to give them another shot one day.

I got mine from Diamondback. Great folks to do business with, plus they had the size I wanted. Coker did not have the exact size I required. Stu

That's what I've been seeing hints of. I'll prolly be signing up for a set for the Fleetline in the next year...

So all you people that were having trouble with Coker tires... when were the tires purchased, and how long did you run them before you had trouble? (I'm gonna ***ume you were beating the daylights out of them, cuz that's what I'd do!)

The only people I know personally that have had any Coker trouble were from tires manufactured 10+ years ago.

The only "real people" I've talked to about DB liked them, but I've read some negatives on the HAMB.

    EXACTLY!

Hell, seeing a rep from Coker on here a couple of posts back should be proof enough that they give a **** about us!

We give Alliance Members a discount on any size, brand or quan***y you want to buy. You can call us direct to order at 1-800-251-6336 or go online to www.Coker.com.

Reliability, ride quality and appearance are critical to our customers and to all of us here at Coker Tire. Our radial tire is the only tire in the industry that comes with a life of the tread warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. I believe the most important aspect of any sale is the service after the sale. If you have an issue give us the opportunity to fix it.

    Thanks,

    Jess

Well, if your a cheap ***...like Sqaublow, paint or grind down your rubbers. I ground my first set today, they turned out excellent considering the tires were free. It took about a hour or less per tire and cost me only a couple of bucks in DA paper. If it was something really nice, I would buy as well, but for any driver I wouldn't be afraid to do this again.

I put the wheel up on my rim clamp Coats changer so I could use the turn table to rotate the tire easily and hold it firm. I did break the bead on and pop the tire over the rop of the rim after the first one. It seemed a little easier and made the sidewall a bit flatter. I started with a sanding disc, the flapper kind, on my 4" grinder. Took the raised letters off and got down through the black wall a bunch. That took maybe 15 minutes each. Then I took the angle die grinder with a 4" disc(the smaller ones were too agressive) and got all the rest of the black off. Took maybe 10 minutes each. Key was to get it even as possible by taking long strokes. That saved me a ton of time with the DA sander. Next I used 240 grit on the DA. Worked well. Took maybe 10-15 minutes each. If I had 360, I would have gone over it again but I didn't really need to. They turned out really well, and seem to clan up pretty easy with Westley's.

Yes, It's nothing but BEHR Elastomeric paint you can get from
Home Depot for $20 a gallon. It does work okay, but don't
    spend $50 on ebay.

It tends to yellow a little, nothing White shoe polish doesn't fix.

Any good ideas on masking the tire off well to paint them? You know, to make a nice circle.

The less beers you drink while working in the garage, the better the circle turns out.
