I would like to go to the pile-up, but I do not think my 58 Chevy meets the entrance critera. I would hate to drive up there and not be able to get in.. anyone from the Terre Haute kinda area willing to take a p***enger, I will pay for my share of gas, beer, think of this as internet hitch hiking.... I am not a serial killer, pretty normal, tax paying guy.... Anyone, Anyone....
if you don't get in the show.... you will still enjoy the outside parking lot. The cars outside are just as, if not , more interesting than the cars inside. Remember, the car that get in fit into what they think is cool...so drive your car and enjoy BOTH shows.... Gus
Take your car! Its cool. I dont see why you wouldnt get in, but if you dont, who cares. At least you got a neat car to cruise the town in after the shows over.
I took my 64 Riviera last year and was denied entrance.......And when it all came down to it, it didnt matter. I had a great time anyway. If you car is up to the trip, you should drive it! You'll be gald you did.
hey don !! drive your car up there anyway. if it doesnt get in , park it and check the other rides out. i'm bummin i wont be able to attend this year because i'm on call for the week . hope all is well after your trip to indy.
I'm heading up sometime Friday afternoon and staying until Sunday. Where do you live? I'll have to check your shop out.
Nice to hear from ya again, after I talked your ear off at the Drag Races I ***umed you had enough of me. No more problems after my Indy trip, knock on wood. I was back at Indy a few weeks back helping a friend run his Super Pro Dragster, the NPCA cars were running but I did not see the F/C. Were you guys running the altered body, never did get over to the pits on your side of the track.
I don't really have a shop, I do most/all of my work at a buddies house that lives out south and east of town, prairieton, I live near Riley.
msuguydon: I agree with the m***es, drive it anyway, in the gate, out of the gate, you still get to see the show...and enjoy the drive,,, Bill j.
ok , I checked out the web site ( thanks denise and I am pretty sure our caddy should be ok . We will bring it and see what happens.
No, it has been lowered 3 inches, has a new motor, a 350 Small block, the engine does have a few shiny parts on it, 350 turbo automatic, I have been re-doing the interior, tuck and roll seats, still bench, new carpet, etc.. and it's not complete still working to adding door panels and headliner. Car was repainted, its Porsche Red Interior is pretty stock, just added a 3 Gage cluster and a Moon Tach. Baby moons and new tires. It's a cruiser, not a hot rod, not an orginal... some place in the middle
That's a very wrong statement, Gus. It has nothing to do with what we think is "cool". Read the criteria. It's all about "traditional style"... not taste.
I work the gate and from what I've read and can see, I'd let it in. I turned away some cool stuff but had to let in some... 'cars' because they met the criteria. Read Hellfish's reply. Its criteria, not opinion. YES! Bring it! You'll have more fun driving your car and isnt that the most important thing? If you (or anyone) have any questions about whether or not you'll get in... look at the pics on the HCP website. If you are still unsure... PM one of the Czars on board here or send an email via the website. It takes all of the guesswork out of it.
it's hard to say based on a postage stamp sized picture, but based on your description, it sounds fine. Hey, just drive it and have fun... which is why you built it, right? If it doesn't get in, you'll save $20.
we didnt make it to the september NPCA races. the drivers daughter was getting married .....i volunteered to drive .......i've never heard him laugh that hard.
PS: The pileup is a unique event in that the area just outside the gate has cool cars and bikes as well. The parking is nice gr*** and the area is in view of those running the gates (the car is relatively safe). I like the comment above about saving $20 if ya don't make it. I would warn someone that hasn't been to the show that the parking inside is gravel, and dusty gravel at that. It all adds to the show and most don't care, but there are some paint freaks that would not be happy there. Just a heads up. Bring it if ya can. Here is a favorite pic of mine from the Pileup last year... Notice the 55 exhaust is causing some special effects!!! Click on the pic for max effect.
You drove it to Indy with the steering box falling off, and ya don't want to drive it to play with us?? I looked for the pics of it going on the piggy back ride to Roo's but couldn't find them.
We have a plan that MIGHT help with the dust this year. As for paint freaks worrying about the dust... boo hoo. My car is nice and shiney and it survived just fine... even after my friends' 2-year old rubbed the dust into the paint to make murals. The Fairgrounds do not allow cruising, so there's little risk of rock chips and so on from stupid people doing stupid things.
