That is EXCELLENT. Exactly what I'm going to do with mine. How exactly did you get that hole that the bones slid through the exact shape? I was gonna get another bone, cut it off up front, and make a pattern.
bradberry00, measured at top of bolt 36-1/4", and center to center of eyes 29-1/4" Kustoms&Rockets, just measure and fit the plywood pattern first. the hole is 1-1/2" x 2-1/2" with 3/4" radius top and bottom (more or less, a little flatter on the bottom than the top because of the way the tube was formed).. I need this info right now and it would be a great addition to the Tech Archive. Let's move it on over...
holy ****! look at the date on this one! 4-19-04!! where the hell did the time go? I took a couple months off this time last year and spent a few weeks of it throwing the modified together, went back to work and haven't had a good solid block of time to really get anything done, on it or anything else... having a job sure gets in the way of building **** I did just scrounge up enough steel to build a frame table, hopefully in the next week or two I can build it so I can weld the frame up nice and efficient like. Paul
Nice brackets. I like them. What did ya use to cut the actual bracket with.(not the hole) That 1/2 inch is thick. It would take me a week with my tools.
Paul, Just one question. Is you wishbone upside down? I thought the welded seam was supposed to go on the bottom. I guess it doesn't matter if it works. Job looks good as always. I'm not picking your work but I thought I would mention it.Keep up the awesome work. You'll be going in no time!
this was a one-off bracket. the pattern is long gone. after three and a half years and close to ten thousand miles I must say it has proven itself as a sound design though. my exact pattern probably wouldn't work with your ch***is anyway, you will need to design yours to work with your own axle, frame, spring and 'bones.
This is why I love this site and also another reason why one should be patient and try and look at as many ways of doing something as possible. I really like this design of yours. I'm close to having to mount my front spring and now that I've seen this I like it the most of all I've seen! I wasn't too keen on drilling through the bones as I couldn't really get my mind wrapped around how to put in a tube for the bolt safely and neatly. This way, by changing the layout, I can also get the bush sleeve lower very easily. I'm using a stock '38 Ford axle so I'm using all the other available ways to get the front end low. BUT, first I need to get the wishbone to axle bolts/pins loose so that I can actually pull the split bones apart.
