has any one ever had a car that you sold or traded and then a couple of year later gotten it back well i have.
it start when i was on my way to sonic and a 65 impala 2 door
cought my atention it was for sale for $800 it had no engine or tranns but the man who owned it was the 2nd owner.
the guy just sold t to me for some reason, he showed a picture
of his sun and the car way back, well once i bought it i had it for at
least a month when the city said i could not have alot of cars in my
yard so i sold it to a guy who races in the state drag races. he took the car and put a 454 in it but then sold it later.
i saw the car in a mans front yard and i asked him if he would like to sell it and he said no.later the man went to prision and the car was
sold in oction and another guy bought it , wich then it was finally for sale 5 year later from when i sold it , so i ended up buying for $600 but it had no engine or tranns.
but it was really solid with no rust. when i looked at the ***le i saw it was still in the name of the gu who sold it to me in the first place.
now i will not sell that car.
any one have a story like it:D

my buddies first car was a 67 ss nova sold it when he was 17 to get a 70 ss camino then when he was about 20 and living with me saw an add in the paper for 67 nova $1500 bucks. went and looked at it and it was his old car!! still has it , started a restore on it and the painter had to respray some parts and resprayed the base coat and it ate the clear... so now it just sits yellow and dirty:(

Bought a 57 Chevy once for $600 once, kid needed the money, nice car in primer, new gl*** & chrome, no motor or trans. Tells me it has a ***le but is still in the name of some previos owner, hadn't been transfered in the last 3 owners or so. Expected a ***le problem till I looked at the papers and it was my name on the ***le! With the new bodywork, primer, gl*** and chrome I didn't recognize my old car. Felt pretty good, I had sold it 5 years earlier as a builder for $1000.

  9. Instead of giving the guy ****, how's about recommending the spell checker, in the top right corner of the message box. Some of us are more savvy at typing than others, maybe he was reading car mags in English cl***(I know I did, suprised I learned anything in school).

Sold my 66 ElCamino in 79 or 80 bought it back last month after setting in a shed for 27 years, cleaned up really well, but, no motor and trans now, brakes locked up most of the time, paint is **** ugly and I paid more for it in this shape than when I sold it running. No complaint though, its one of my first Love's just a little on the worn side.

Saw a 59 Bel Air sedan on a trailer at a swap meet. Made an offer, seller declined, we walked away. An hour later, decide it's worth the asking price, go back and it's sold.

4 Years later, different swap meet 200 miles away, see a pic of the similar car on a seller's board. Took all of 3 minutes to figure out it was the same car. Bought it on the spot.

  16. No ****. I know this isn't English cl***, but if you put something out there for 30,000 to see, make a little bit of an effort.

Well, I haven't ever owned the same car twice, but I did come across one of my old cars once. I had a 78 Trans Am in high school; sold it when I graduated because I couldn't afford to drive it on the hour trek each way to college. This was in 1997.

A couple months ago, I was at the auto parts store and there was a teenaged kid in a similar TA in the parking lot. Since I used to own one, I went up and said hi, etc. He had the door panel removed for whatever reason, and I could plainly see where I had signed the interior of the door when I fixed the window regulator in 1995. (I do strange things like that) Thought it was kinda cool that it was still on the road, although it was kind of depressing since the car had deteriorated a decent amount since I owned it.

  20. I'm not into lowriders, but with all this talk of impalas, here's some cool "3-wheel action"

A few years ago I bought a '71 Buick Riviera GS 455. Did I couple of things to it, needed some quick cash so I sold it back to the guy I bought it from. A little while later he phoned me up and wanted to if I'd buy the car back. I had some spare cash, so I did. Did a few more things to it then needed a down payment so I sold it again.....to the guy I bought it from....twice ! The funny part to me is the guy was a huge Buick nut. Had a Skylark GS, a GSX, a T-type....but the best part....his name is David Dunbar...

My buddie Rick had a 55 chevy he sold to this biker guy. I guess the guy never registered it and ended up getting it impounded, cause several months later he gets a call from the impound yard that they had his car. For $200 he got the car back and never heard from the biker.

Dad had a '59 Elky that he traded for a '48 Ford coupe. A few years later we found out it was sitting in the next town over with the roof cut off. This car only need a damn paint job when we had it!! Then it disappeared. About 20 years later he found it in a junkyard, with the ***le still in our name. So he bought it for $300. Not sure what we'll do with it at this point, but I'm sure we'll think of something... :D

( new frame body panels etc.) Painted the truck back original. Sold the truck to his brother they trashed it. Bought it back for his son. had to repaint body panels new engine etc. Told him this time if he sells i'm buyin it cause I know he'll buy it again,

    I've done it three times.

The first one was my '34 Ford, I bought it in '62 built it up and sold it in '63. Then in '75 I bought it again with no engine or ****** and put in a big block Ford and an automatic, drove it a couple of more years and sold it again. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb!

The second was my '56 "El camino" which I built from a four door stationwagon. Gave it to a guy and a couple of years later I asked him what he had done with it. He said nothing - do you want it back?
I said sure, I then put in a 283 with auto, drove that a long time and traded it for a Model A pickup in a basket.

The third time was with my '26 T coupe I'm building. Bought it from a farmer, collected parts for it, found a couple of more coupes and traded all four of my coupes and all my parts for a really nice stock '27 T Tudor. I then realized I didn't have a coupe to build so I turned around and bought it back.

I owned the nicest T coupe I have ever seen... I bought it as my whitetrash savings plan because I knew it was special, and if I really ever needed the money I could unload it..

A little while later a guy in our club needed a car... but he was known for chopping stuff hard... super hard. We have an unspoken rule in our club that no matter how cool a part is, if your not using it, it belongs to the guy who does... So I reluctantly parted with the coupe not feeling great about it, but stoked to see him on the road... It sat, and sat, and 7 months later He was just about to chop it, when an A coupe body came into the mix. I called him and traded him back the Tall T.

It sat in my shop for a couple of years, and then a friend called who was opening a coffee shop. It was the late 90's and coffee kiosk workstations with computors were the rage... The plan was to use the T as a Computor Booth and put a plasma screen on the inside of the windshield... Welll I sold him the car, because he too was a really good friend and needed it, then a year later when the shop went into design, the interior decorator hated the idea of the kiosk, so the car was just sitting around... I asked him if he still wanted it and he said he wasn't going to use it, he isn't a hotrodder so he GAVE it back to me... It was at that time I decided I would do everything in my power to keep it. So I eventually built it
    [IMG]

and then some time went by and I needed to sell it.. 4 kids, a move etc.. Right as I was about to sell it, I came to my senses, ripped the body off of it...

    (Alone at about 2:30am),
    [IMG]

Then I decided to build and RPU to set on the frame.

Which I $old so I could keep the body

It was the best thing I could have ever done, because after my son saw all the work I went through to keep it, he feel in love with the body and is looking forward to building it himself... His name is already on the ***le and it's hanging in the rafters until he gets a little better at welding... (he's only 10).

So in some ways I have owned it 4 different times and techinically it's now my son's but at least it's in the family.
