Anyone purchased anything from these guys. Went there today and was immediately negatively criticized for a tride and true suspension set up idea. Seems more of a "Street Rod" Shop if any.
I've dealt with them for yrs...... actually dealt with Carl at his house before he opened the Rod Factory. They can be opinionated on what works and what does not like most folks Have you talked to Elpoloko at Industrial Chassis? He or his dad can offer help....
I just talked to these guy's the other day(Industial Chassis)... What a good bunch. Very freindly, seem to be on top of there Sh%t. They will be getting my business for sure. I'd give them a call. Graham
Carl has a few health issues and his counter help isn't all that experienced at trouble shooting or general questions for that matter. I worked for Carl @ the Rod Factory for 8+ years and have known him much longer. They are about a qarter mile from me, gimme a call and I can help you out. Industrial Chassis Inc. Steve 602-278-6800
I also worked for carl, and what you describe happens daily. Were you looking to mount your front spring between the wishbones? that one gets him going every time.
Close, I told him I was running a spring over the axle. Then he immediately ranted and raved about a M-II set up being the only way to go. Oh well, he's not the only game in town.
Sounds like he wasn't criticizing but, rather, trying to sell you something. He should have listened and helped you if he could. He could have still had some kind of sale. Instead he has created one disatisfied guy that will go out and share that dis-satisfaction with many. Will only hurt him in the long run.
My wife and I met Steve at I.C. about 5 years ago, bought our front end kit from him. We've been very happy with everything.... parts, instructions, service and advice before and after the sale.
Steve's the man to talk to when it comes to suspension. No doubt about that. Plus he's a boat full of knowledge. I stopped by the Rod Factory because they had the bushings I was looking for as per a friend of mine. Not saying I wouldn't do business with Carl, just wanted to find out from the HAMB'rs if he is worth another try. If anyone is wondering, I am running a simple 4'' drop I beam spring over, and a front 4 link.
I don't see how a MII can compete with that. Looks, or ride, take your choice. I'd go for ride after 1948... Before then, changing lanes after hitting a bump is part of the fun!
