So, the radiator on my '37 Ford truck is leaking. It's a radiator from an older (50's) Chevy truck if I remember right. It's about 8" shorter than the grill area. Soooo....I'm thinking, might as well replace it with one made for the truck....something that will cool better, maybe already has an A/C condensor. I start to wander around google.....HOLY ****.....$600 for a radiator? Surely there are better options that you guys have sorted out. Any input?
honestly spend the bucks and get yourself a walker, it bolts in the factory location and they are super heavy duty and thier built like a tank. I got mine as a take out from a customers car (it leaked) took it to my local rad shop and they couldnt believe how well they are made, ill never buy anything else
The Walker's are from $655 for the basic one, to $789 for the 4 core w/ AC condensor. $800 for a radiator......
I got o heavy duty aluminum one from the local dirt track at half the cost built just the same. Might need some fab work.
these are prices for a '42-'48 Ford car w/ SBC/AT no AC condensor, trucks can't be all that much more or less. Aluminum Afco, $475 + shipping with your HAMB Alliance discount from Rjays. Walker $535 + shipping from Kikin with your Alliance discount. Afco $499 + 10.95 packaging from Summit (special order for AT version) Afco has the condensors for $124 on their site. I don't want to hijack, but If anybody can do better than there prices PM me, another FL Poor Boy needs one for a '39.
I'm running a Walker in my 40 ford, fits perfectly, but most important works great. It's worth the money to never have heating problems, the guys who try to cobble parts and pieces together that don't fit and don't work end up paying more in the long run.
I already have a seperate condensor, just was thinking if I was buying a radiator, might as well get an integrated one. Other than being in one package.... does it make a difference? I haven't seen an AFCO specifically for my truck, but Walker lists one.
PRC (Performance Rod and Custom)- aluminum radiators of the highest quality. About $500, can be custom made if not available in stock. A number of dealers, like Street Rod Garage, streetrodstuff, Rides by Leon, etc. Used to be available from factory, not sure if this is still true. Never heard any complaints. When I need one for my 34 Plymouth, I will get a PRC.
Yea, I was just looking at those....thanks. I emailed Kikin about pricing for my truck. If I can get a Walker for a decent price, I'de go that way.
Ive Had A Walker In My 31 Sedan For 20 + Years No Trouble We Are Building A 32 Now Its Going To Be A Walker For Sure Tim
The guy on ebay making Aluminum rads is the deal! I think he makes anything you want. I got a 32 rad thats chopped 3'',and it cools my 8ba perfect! It was $450 to my door in like 4 days. I wanted a walker but did not have the money at the time. it all depends if you are willing to but an Aluminum rad in you car or not. Just search 32 radiator, or duce radiator on ebay. He has like 2000 feedback all good!

OK, bit the bullet and bought a Walker radiator with the fan shroud. Just to throw it out there, Todd at Posies beat everybodies price...hands down. Thanks for all the input guys!
You did the best thing. Walker radiators are the ****! A lot of guys cut corners when it comes to cooling and suffer in the future. You will have many years of trouble free cooling now. Just one thing though, heve the motor flushed out real well even if its a fresh new build, run 50-50 coolant/inhibitor and water. Cheers, Doc.
Walker makes a fine product but I think they are overpriced. I bought a custom built aluminum radiator from Ron Davis Radiators for less $$$ than a Walker. It cools as well or better. It's an entire **** ton lighter. Beautiful craftsmanship. Less $$$.
The main plus was they are about the only company to make one specifically for my truck. The 37 truck is different than the car, and also different than the 36 or 38, so nobody wants to make them. I could obviously had one custom made, but I like knowing that someone else did the homework for me. I'de hate to custom order one and find out I screwed up somewhere. Price was $600 shipped for radiator and shroud.
I have used recored original radiators,,,Griffin aluminum radiators,,U.S. radiators,,,and Babb,, I now have 3 32's with Walker radiators and a Walker waiting to be installed in the 54 Ford,,,,,Never have i had a problem with Walkers. Spend the money and do it right.HRP
