Does anyone have any experience with the Hagan fuel doors? I was thinking of putting one on '49 Shoebox. I know their french kits are pretty nasty looking. Here's the one I am looking at: http://www.haganstreetrods.com/thcart/view.php?retid=45RF Thanks.
your ford already has a gas door,,,why not just keep it if you aren't gonna weld yours shut and relocate the gas filler?
'49 Fords didn't have fuel doors. They had an external cap. 51 Fords did have fuel doors. You might consider swapping a 51 fuel door and filler neck on to your 49. It will even match the curvature of your quarter panel.
Hagan doors ****. They have a stereo cabinet hinge and magnetic latch. You cannot keep they gap even around the door no matter what. The only thing good about them is the quick fill gas cap. They offer different contours for different radius quarter panels but none of them ever seem to be the one that fits perfect.
I agree with Brownsmetal. Piece of junk. Hard to make fit right and after you go thru that h***le it's to flimsy to hold up to even once in a while usage.
Thanks Brownsmetal and Metalman. I was also thinking about it for a different vehicle but I think I'll do something different or make my own. Steve
I used one in the 90's, making that door open and close is a challenge. It's not a good piece. Don't use one.
From the posts I have read, Hagan seems to be consistent. Consistent at making junk. I'll stay away from them. I was going to get some hinges from them, but I think I'll go with Rocky Hinge. Thanks for the responses. I think I'll pursue relocating the gas cap to the trunk. Maybe throw one of these on there for finishing touch: https://www.mooneyesusa.com/Store/p...d=551&osCsid=3320d1c93d4ef3f770fa152d02f7b09b
