Well got home late last night got up this morning and got it off the trailer just kinda doing the walk around detailed planning, looking, and already got threatened. You see this car came from a large warehouse in NYC where it had sat for years, AND the body is SOLID, I don't mean good, I mean EXCELLENT. Still has the interior wood. A purist came by and was telling me how much of shame it is that I was even considering chopping or channeling, and well the boxed frame, Please don't do anymore stuff like that, and the small block chevrolet motor well that has to go you can't do that kinda stuff to such a fine specimen. If the bastard had been under 70 I think I woulda hit him. Well I was a good boy this time, I stood there with my tattoo covered arms folded and listened and took in what he had to say and politely excused myself as i had to do. My wife said she was surprised I didn't send him packing with a size nine print on his ass, as she listened from the porch. Well let the fun begin, maybe he will bring back so buddies and then I can fight'em in a pack to make it a fair fight. Heres some pics
Nice find. A friend of mine was looking at one very similar to that for sale in Ohio.. olmost thought that was it Don't even let what the older guy's say enter your mind.. Most i have met are old time restorer's and that's just what they see as "right". Hell, i had one guy NOT sell me an A visor because it was going to go on a chopped and channeled truck, and that was AFTER the deal was made, just had to exchange cash for parts.. Oh well. Good luck with it. Tony
I had a 'purist' curse me as the devil but as he got to know me and saw the the direction on my coupe he gave me alot of respect. If anything man pick the old timers brain and take in everything you can!!!...It will help you down the road..
I would love to but he is a bought not built guy, buys turn key cars, pays someone to detail them, then shows them. Not cause he used to wrench and got to old, but cause he needs something to be popular I guess, overall he is a decent fella, just has more money than experince, however in his field he was the man before he retired. Stu
Yeah! Time for a RUMBLE! You can get your boys, a SWITCHBLADE, a set of BRASS KNUCKLES, maybe even a TRIDENT, and you can have a battle in the high school parking lot, all to the tune of RUNAWAY BOYS. YEAH!!!! Jesus, is it just me or does this sound like an excerpt from one of the literary gems written by Jimmy Carbone on the last page of every OL STOOL RODZ? Sounds like a scene from THRILLER, except talk of beating geriatric ass is gayer. BTW, size 9s ain't that big. Nice car, now don't fuck it up
Yeh well thanks for not beating up an old man with your big tattooed arms there fella, it's great that you showed such restraint. now get on with the car and impress us
Why would you want to kick an old guys ass just because of his opinion on what he thinks should be done to the car. I dont get it. Oh well...
I guess some people don’t understand sarcastic type remarks? Damn rough crowd here. How about I will take my fudge sicle and go in the corner, play with my car car till I grow up. Oh and yeah the SBC ain't my motor of choice..............but till I find an old hemi, or a good flat head, it will do.
I think when your ready to chop, channel or do whatever to it, you should do it in front of his house so he can watch....
Hemi or Flat head? Both on the total far ends of the spectrum wouldn't you say? Pick one and go kick some ass, but wait till he's had his pills so his stamina is up, I would hate for you not to break a sweat!
Well the SBC I know, from childhood (last month) every other car had one. Really liked my old BBC 71 Nova in the 80's. But I like old mopars, and and old hemi would be cool to me. I have haven't messed with one, but I like them. Pretty pricey, but different. Flatheads, never had one, never worked on one, but in my mind it is a real step back in time and has the vintage look. I like the looks of both, but I would really have to talk to some fella who have owned both, I am unsure about reliability, parts availabilty, and all the quirks that may go with them. So till then SBC, I got alot of stuff to do on the body and frame/chassis, I will be busy for awhile. Kinda hope to have it street worthy (Safe) for a few short trips to Kindergarten next year. (Not me; I'm in High School) Wanna take my grandson to school in it, he spent more time in the thing today than I did.
Believe it or not some of us ol' farts know a lot about cars and flatheads,,,and have had chopped top cars before you were born and had body art,,,sheeesh! Do us a favor and build your car the way YOU want it,,,and quit with the ranting about the graybeards,,the ol gent only expressed his opinion,,he didn't kick your dog did he? HRP,,,
