So I've been a lurker here for a few weeks and decided to make it official. This looks like the place to be for shit talkin and car building... count me in! Oh yeah, am I a freak for liking germ's rabmlings and trash talkin?

Anyways, the car that made me find this place is my 33 CHEVY 5 window that I picked up a month ago. Funny enough or not, I searched for "Rat Rod" and came across a nasty thread on the H.A.M.B. and I was hooked.

I'll post some specs and details later along with some pics. Who else on the board is from Dago?

    Douche On!

Yes. That does make you a freak.

But welcome to the HAMB anyway. LOL

    So what's powerin' that '33?

    Regards,

    Big Daddy Eric

    350/350 and a 1 legged 12 bolt.

Where do I start in asking for help with my steering column/box dillema? It looks like I have a mid 40's Ford steering box that was cut apart from the enclosed column. It has a 7/8 shaft and protrudes through the frame in between the #5 and #7 cylinders. It has a "kustom" pittman arm that is bent to barely clear the radius rod with a 16in drag link going to the left front wheel.

The steering box is not sealed at the top, was full of rusty water and is basically worn the fuck out. It has a later GM style coupler half ass welded to the shaft and it wobbles like a gyrating dildo when it is turned.

The column end is a hacked GM tilt with a 1 in shaft. On the end is another kustom 3/4 in welded shaft with a BS bolt stuck through a hole to engage the other end of the GM coupler.

I have been looking for options but thought you guys might have some ideas. I'd prefer to stay away from a Vega style cross steer setup if possible.

    Any Ideas???

I like the earlier ford boxes. My 33 works nicely. Alot of folks say to go the F1 route, they're damn nice set ups too. Got room for the straight shot or do you need to use U joints?

I've got room for a straight shot. What's the scoop on the F1 route? Whatever I do, I need to have safe steering. Late night tweaker welds on my shaft won't cut it.

    hi, sanitary napkin...

    solution to your problem...

snort a rail of The Inland Empires finest, get a pile of pornos, Miller HighLife, and some Journey/REO speedwagon... play/jerk off as needed.

get some metal coat hangers and a torch then start welding the entire steering box to the frame... might as well weld the rims to the spindles for safety, make sure you have enough coat hangers... if you dont, break into moms house and BARROW more, (might as well put a 4x4 chassis underneath while youre at it).

id use some PVC pipe as reinforcement for the box...

Welcome, I'm over in La Mesa. Seems like the local chapter of the HAMB keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Have you considered trading your Chevy in for a Douche Roadster? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] God I kill myself....

Haven't huffed glue in a while, but I sure like spray painting in a closed garage with no airflow!
