Damn that is an awesome car... Definatley keep us posted when you get it out on the strip!! I would love to see that run!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like the "Surfers" TF Digger that used to run in So Cal, is it? It was a mean Daddy back in its day!! If it is, I'm glad to see it survived. Davey
I remember reading about how the crew on that rail would rummage through the trash in the pits at the end of the night to score usable rods, mag parts, etc.. Prudhomme and Leong's trash were their treasure. Then they would beat them with their used, cast-off pieces. Very cool. Much props to your dad, Cole, for ressurecting a legendary digger.
is that the car that was built in the back of a jewlery shop and the guys used to ride thier skate boards all over the pits and never work on it?
SWEET! whats next? i was just admiring the work on the Goose's funny car in the DRAG RACER spread today.incredible work
My Uncle Mark used to race at Mel Larsons and BeeLine. He was a freak when it came to the Surfer's car. It was cool to see him light up just talking about it. You lead a charmed life Cole, better yet, you've taken the opportunities you've had and RAN with them. Don't ever stop. Did you're Dad do the work in Salinas or in Kansas?
Sorry to get sappy. Don't know if my Uncle ever really saw the Surfer's but he sure dug (dig's?) that car. I wish I was talking to him but he's just not there. He was a big influence on me. Every time something about this dragster comes up I think about my Uncle in his prime.
Man, the "Surfers" are my drag racing heros. One of the last drag racing teams to be truly competitive in top fuel using little money but lots of ingenuety (sp) and hutspah. I love that car. I am sooo looking forward to seeing that machine in Bakersfield.
Bitchen'. I remember reading all the things guys are talking about too... neat stuff. Like the time they were lying under one of the big guys' car (when the oil pan was off), oil dripping all over their faces, and mentioning that they learned more that day then they had ever learned before. I wish we could go back in time. Sam.
