Well, gonna try this, first thread
My F1 needed a new firewall. The old one was full of holes plus I'm using a firewall mounted master cylinder.
I cut the stock one out leaving a flange around the perimeter. Since it was out I decided to paint the unerside of the dash for visibilty (and to take advantage of the access to work on the gauge panel and wipers). I used pretty much every sharp tool laying around to do this.
Since I don't weld very well i made a cardboard template and angle guage to form as much of the distributor pocket as I could without welding.
Once I had the template I cut out the blank with my plasma. (the plasma won't work in the shop due to too long an extension cord, hence the rock and tree limb method on the firewall removal)

The main pc. is 14 ga. cold roll, the box is 18 ga.
I formed the box using 2 x 6's and hammers, using the little paper guage to get the angle right.

Once formed I tacked it to the main pc. and trial fit with several 1/4 x20 bolts. Looks like it might work. I am making an additional doubler for the master cylinder mount area from 10 ga.

I'm going to finish the under dash work before I weld it in permantly.
Hope this makes sense and is of use to someone. I also made a column drop and steering column if anyone is interested.
    Thanks, Charley

Sure, The drop was made with a 2 pc. industrial shaft collar. It has two allenhead bolts to secure it. You can remove the column without scratching it. My F-1 drop was trashed.
The column is 1 1/2" exhaust tubing, two turned aluminum sleeves and two industrial bronze bushings. I used the orig. F-1 shaft and a grant adaptor. A 14" 4 spoke goes on it.
The bell on the wheel end is from a cheap fire extinguisher.
