That's cool! I've got one of those side covers, but it doesn't have the "Sharp" script name on it. I always wondered if it could be adapted to a 235". Maybe stack it on another thin plate of aluminum to seal off the smaller pushrod side-plate opening.

Very nice piece... If you just got this on eBay recently, then it is the 2nd Sharp side cover I have seen in the 4 years
that I have been paying attention to such goodies.
I personally have a Nicson side cover and Nicson and Fenton valve covers. Enjoy it ......

I had a Nicson side cover in the 70's and I traded it and some cash for a paint job on my 51 Chevrolet. Man' I been kickin myself ever since. I would build a 216 around it now!:D

its goin on a 47 chevy biz coupe chebby

yah thats the bad part now if that motor ever goes i gotta rebuild it because of one damn piece .

also any history on the sharp company i never heard of them before?

  11. They used to spin those 216's up to 6500rpm's in the old days. I had our stock '39 going an indicated 98mph going down the Galveston causeway in about '67, later drove it to Piedras Negras, then back through SanAntonio, up to Austin, 70 and 80 in the summer heat, like a new car! Never did screw up!

  12. Oh yeah, we still have it!

Sharp also made a 2x1 intake.

Tom Langdon used to sell a copy of this, minus the script, but he's all out of them. I got the last one.

How much of an interest would there be in making some new ones?

That would depend on the cost factor. I'm a cheap bastard, but that would look cool on my 216!!

  15. I know a guy who has a really nice OLD polished Edmunds custom 216 intake for 200.00 if anyone is interested...

I don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but on the subject of Sharp - I have a Sharp head on the 230 in my '46 Plymouth. I've never seen another one of these or any other Sharp Mopar flatty stuff. Does anyone know if such stuff exists?

i thought about maybe talkin to obrien truckers about maybe making a cast of the side cover somehow . just to shoot off about 100 of them but again i dont know the interest or how much people would pay for them.

so now im on the look out for the valve cover and the intake instead of the tattersfield and offy parts.

Dave - there's a '41 Dodge Luxury Liner coupe in Pocatello running a Sharp head, Isky 3/4, Mallory YC, Nicson dual intake, & Fenton "display board" headers smoothed & chromed.
Geno - The '51 lives over by Cody ... it's the deep metallic green & white one with a bunch of factory accessory stuff hung all over it. The owner will be close to his 80s if he's still with us.

We are making one to match the "no name" valve cover we made. Both are at the foundry right now.

Offenhauser never made a side cover for a 235, although, about twenty years ago, there were some bootleg Offy covers floating around. I know who made them, or had them made, and he's six feet under now, so unless you happen across one of the bootleg covers, you're out of luck.
