I am getting ready to swap out my tired, old 235 in my 1954 1/2 ton chevy PU for a 1962 283 with 1959 ram horn headers. I would like to do this without having to move or modify the steering box. Any suggestions?

I don't think you will get the job done using RAM horns.
I have see a stock cast exhaust manifold that comes out the end, used to move the pipe on the drivers side toward the front of the engine. This lets you miss the steering box. If I remember correctly, it was a p***enger side header, that was used on the driver side to do this little trick. ( for some reason 64 chevy sticks in my mind---could be a brain fart)

Here is a chevelle header that you could flip to the driver side

So have you done this with these headers? How difficult is it to route the exhaust?
