I know people have posted a few times looking for cloth wire loom for a period-correct look.
I was just looking through our Tri-5 Chevy catalog at YearOne, and stumbled on "Original Style Cloth Wiring Loom". "This seamless, spiral woven cotton and Kraft paper material is thoroughly saturated with asphalt-based waterproofing, and then lacquered for improved abrasion resistance. Uses may vary by year and model. Sold by the foot. Be sure to order large enough to fit over terminals."
    Part Number 1203N: 1/4-inch I.D.
    Part Number 1207N: 1/2-inch I.D.

Both are $2.20 per foot, which I thought was high...but my '62 Chevy Suburban is 10-feet long from the firewall to the back bumper, so I'm guessing I could do my truck for way under $50 using this stuff. My '57 Chevy is less than 18-feet long from bumper to bumper.

Not trying to post a commercial for the company, but I came across it and thought some people here would appreciate the heads-up. I'm probably going to run it on my '62 Suburban, and I'll for sure use it on my '54 Buick.

Have you tried any of the Model A and V8 Ford dealers? We used to sell this stuff in kits and all the wiring suppliers used it on their harnesses that weren't woven as original.
    Snyder's, Mac's, and others.
I can't remember for sure but the source may be that outfit in TN which distributes the clips and rubber rubber bumpers and stops in little green boxes. Jees, Alzheimer moment, I cannot think of the name. It is available in sizes up to about 1.5".
Au-Ve-Co in Tennessee, thank you "mcQueen"!!

For another source, try "Restoration Supply Company".

    3/16, 1/4, 5/16 dia is .50 cent a foot, 9 sizes up to 3/4 inch (.75 per foot).
Lots of other great supplies also, clothwire, connectors, etc.
A buddy from another site hooked me up with this place. '22

You can get it from NAPA too, I can get the part numbers if you like.

  5. Rhode Island Wireing has repeatedly been the most cost efficitave I've found. They also have cloth wrap wire in colors and tracers of all kinds as well as origional wire kits both Forgin and domeatic. Excelant web site.

If anyone has those NAPA part numbers that would be awesome. I have a great NAPA store around the block and I like to support them.

    Thanks!!

  8. Another vote for Rhode Island. I researched cloth wire when I was building my RPU and these guys rule. Great price and a HUGE selection. You could turn into a real wiring art director with all the colors and variations they offer. Good people to work with, too.

  9. Duh.. just realized you're looking for the tubing, not the wire itself. Our local old Ford parts guy has it. Seems like it's quite a bit less than the price you were quoted... they probably get it from Vintique or CW Moss.

DeSoto here on the HAMB has a machine that will weave any wire loom in the cloth weave, what ever color you want. ( meant to be what ever color Tracer thread ) He is he in Mass.

  16. Yeah, vintageford.com has wiring with the correct colors woven on the old Ford machines. Not as extensive as RIWiring, but certainly an option
