Hey guys and gals...I've been reading your site for a little while now, and thought I'd go ahead and join up.

My name is Vance. I'm a **** and a POSER, but I'm ignorant enough not to care. By day, I do inane computer stuff that's catastrophically boring, but by night (and sometimes afternoon) I tinker with and drive a '55 Chevy.

I'm 29, married, and not nearly as cool as I never thought I was. Wait...that didn't make sense...never mind.

I drive my car daily, and I'm learning how to fix things as they fall off the car. It's a 4 door BelAir with a small block that's not as fast as it should be, but not nearly as slow as it was when I bought it.

I'm an amateur blues musician (guitarist/singer/sometimes saxophonist), but you'll probably never hear me. I know how and when to use semi-colons, but usually prefer not to.

I'm a nice guy who pays my taxes, loves my wife, and helps little old women cross the street.

I don't prefer the checkbook cars, though I still try and get as many ideas from them as I can...what impresses me are the guys who build their own cars. This is what I'm trying to do. I won't pay anyone to do anything to my car unless I try to do it first and completely fail. (Luckily that hasn't happened much yet). I plan on learning welding, bodywork, painting, etc...as much as I can do myself. I've had the car about 2 years and have already done quite a lot to it.

My car will likely not be in any shows, except maybe small local ones for fun. I just want to drive it.

    I also like candy.

Here's a pic of my car, please be gentle.

Ha! Hank, that is cool. I mess around with Photoshop quite a bit myself.

I don't think I'd ever get it THAT low, but fun to look at!

And thanks for all the welcomes, guys... [IMG]

I've seen what happens when people intro themselves poorly or in the wrong place. Not pretty. [IMG]

Welcome! That's a nice looking '55. It's good to see a four door sedan that's been tastefully updated like this. I've learned alot from the folks here. Sit back and pay attention and there's alot going on.

    Nice looking '55.
Too bad about those rear doors! [IMG] Just kidding.
I also dig the blues, the old stuff, though. I TRIED to make noise come out of a Saxophone once, but it just sounded like a raspberry. It must have been broken! [IMG]

My buddy used to go to FSU, so I've been to Tallah***ee a couple of times. He lived at the Colony Club (a.k.a Felony Club) apartments, so we'd walk up to Guthrie's for a Gut Box.

Dig the 55. very cool. I do agree with cash... a little lower would suit her just right....

I'm in FL too man... quite a bit south of Tallah***ee, but still in FL. nice to see someone else from the sunshine state.

I like the car even thought its a moor-door. [IMG] I, too, am well versed in the use of punctuation. I have some trouble with the semi-colin. Sometimes; I ; (grrr....) damn, that one slipped. It reminds me of when my participles used to dangle... doc used a staple and I'm all better now.

Great intro! Seems like a rarity these days!

From another poser, horrendously talentless, quarter-century amateur blues guitarist, welcome! Nice, clean car, even if it does have that odd extra set of doors...

Nice intro. Nice Chevy(something I don't often say). Welcome to the HAMB. Keep that grammar, punctuation and spelling in order and you'll do fine...

What sort of blues do you enjoy? Chicago? Texas? Country?

Yep, been to Guthries enough times to shorten my lifespan by at least a few years!

I dig all Blues. I prefer the older stuff, back when recording devices were just starting to be used. The sounds those guys would make with just a guitar and a voice were incredible. Acoustic blues is the best, but I do love hot electric blues, too. There's not much I don't like, really... [IMG]

Seriously, thanks to all for the warm welcome! [IMG]

Welcome aboard from Northeast Fla - Jacksonville where I-10 begins or ends, dependent soley on the direction you are heading.

I really like your more door nicely done and you have my vote for intro of the month. If you ever get over to the east side of Fla let me know. The only time I get that way is the Moultrie Swap in Ga.

    Again, nice car and welcome.

I try to hit that swap meet every time they have it. It always seems to happen just when I've run out of money, though...need to save up some for next time. My "garage wish list" is getting pretty long! [IMG]
