Well my latest find was a V8-60 with Eddie Meyer heads on it. The story is I was out on my usual drive around in the afternoon of a beautiful spring day. Everyone seems to open garage doors and push cars out of the shops to spring clean. Well, I was driving around in the "Hood" of KC and I drove by a shop that had a couple of early 30's cars pushed out on the sidewalk. So I proceed to stop and chat about cars, nope they are not forsale he tells me after about an hour, but you like Flatheads right. Yep. Well follow me, I have one of those little ones back here in the corner and I have not had it uncovered since the early 70's. So he proceed's to lift an old movers blanket to show it to me, and it was covered in dust and overspray. The first thing I saw was the "Eddie Meyer Hollywood" heads and I got chicken skin on my arms. So I look it over and try not to act very interested, and I ask "Is it forsale?". "Yep", he say's. Would one fifty be too much? I said well I will think about it and I may need to go home and get some cash. So he tells me that he will be there all afternoon. I left the shop and went to get in my wifes car that I was driving and I was shaking so bad that I could not get the key in the hole. I had to use two hands to get it in the hole. So off to the bank I go to get some coin outta the ATM. I stopped back by in about 30 minutes to give him the cash and said that I would be by to pick it on the next day if that was ok. He said the motor used to be in an MG back in the early 70's and it would pull the front wheels off the ground. It also has domed pistons and was stored inside since the early 70's. We have been collecting V8-60's for the bellytank that I want to take to Bonneville in 06' or 07'. The heads do not have any cracked fins or cracks in them, but the do have this stamped on them: NE 459 300 & on the other one: NE 452 it is stamped on the tops of them by the water jackets. Any idea what it means? Here are a couple of pix of the motor.

The air cleaner is from Choprods brother reggie.

Oh yea, if anyone happens to have a "Eddie Meyer" manifold laying around collecting dust. I will be looking for one at the end of the summer. I can trade you parts or cash, anything that you are looking for I can normally find. There are a couple of spots for old parts in a 300 mile radis of KC.

    Sweet score!!!
I’ve been messing around with V8-60 stuff for a Bonneville project also – a ’38 midget racer for the M/VOT cl***. At the moment, I’ve found my first block is cracked and I need to tear down a second one. Oh well, its all part of the journey!

Say, you wouldn’t have an extra V8-60 transmission you want to unload?

No extra ****** sorry. I bought it for $50 he thought that it was worth something.

On the T-shirt, I bought it from a HAMBer here. I think that it was Rickyracer. Or someone could let you know.

Thats awesome! I am just waiting for my "find."

Any insites on the "good stuff" within this 300 mile radius of KC?

I could swap it for an out of the way yard near the MOKAN joplin area full of 30's and 40's trucks and early 60's stuff.

  9. Nice score Chris. Did that olds/caddy air cleaner come with it? Hell they sell for $150.00 to $200.00 all day long. Sell it and the heads are free. Reguardless, that was the deal of the summer so far. Good for you man.

Did you hear about the yard in Southeast Kansas down around Pittsburg that is going out of buisness? He is selling everything off and having an auction at the end of June. PM me and I can let you know where it is. He has tons of 30's and 40's cars and trucks, I just heard about it this past weekend at Dewey.

I bought the air cleaner for Choprods brother for a good price. I just sprayed it today and I am going to try (?) to pull some lines on it next week.

I've been collecting parts for a v860 for awhile. I want it for a display engine. I would like it to in running condition. I think it would be great to be able to fire it up and let people hear how those little flatheads sound.

Cool story and good find. I was just reading the feature in Hop Up last night about Meyer.
Are you still planning a trip to IL?

Does anyone have any idea what the stamped numbers mean? Elmo Rodge? av8?

Here are some close up pix of the numbers...

    Grimlok,
We are going to start buiding on the frame next fall. Model T frame and an SCTA rules book to make it all legal. Single axle towed to the salt (samIam style) in 06' or 07' to have it go thru tech and see what needs to be fixed.

    Droptank,
I will give you a call tonight.

    Tin,
Was that the latest Hop-Up? And the the trip to Chi-town is going to be a bit delayed, we are buying and moving into a house in 20 days. But if you could stop by IKEA and pick up a few items and drop them off that would be great to save us on shipping. Just kidding.
