I did a search and it looks like we havent had model sunday yet. Ive never posted the model sunday thread before but I have something that I have been itchin' to post up so here goes. I started this on thursday. It will be my replica of the "Deaths Doorstep" coupe built by littleman. The frame is completely scratch built. I still have to build the front suspension mount, engine mount and build the K member. I am working from the pictures that are posted in the build thread here on the HAMB. Ive been collecting parts for this build for a year or so now ever since I found the 1/1 on the HAMB. Recently I found a partially built 30 coupe on ebay so I bought it and now it finally begins! Here you can see the parts that arent being used (which is everything except the body) Once the coupe is done or near done I will weather these leftovers and display it with the model Thanks for looking.
Hey 66gmc, thanks for getting it started. Your Model A is going to be killer. I bet it was fun making those frame rails in the back! I have to show off my E-bay find this week. I don't buy much on there , unless its a killer deal. My favorite place to look is in junkyard or in parts, or parts lot , to see the piles of forgotten projects. I spied a ITC 40 Mercury in one of those piles this week. It comes from Ideal Toy Corp. circa 1961. They are pretty rare. I only saw them in sealed boxes with big price tags before e-bay. They still bring good money, but I just always wanted one, I don't care what they are worth. Besides , theres no box etc. and its built, so it will get cut up. I got the whole shebang for $15.50. Got a original Monogram Model A, 32 2-door sedan , some willys stuff, and part of a Munster coach with all four wheels and tires. I thought yall would like to see what a ITC 40 Merc was all about. It was set up for a motor, they were remote control. The wfront wheels steer, and get this, the front hubcaps stay still while the tires roll. That explains the hubcap design. I pulled the skirts off, they were glued on good. Somebody did a little detailing on it with some silver paint. Enjoy the rare model.
Here's me 50 ford convertible I finished yesterday had to shoot the color on in between nw rain storms
Great stuff! That replica of Death's Doorstep is lookin' tits, and kudos on the Merc score, too. I haven't done anything lately - had to empty my hobby room to do some repairs on the house, and all my plastic is locked up in big boxes in the garage right now.
wow looks like i found something else to spend money on. all these like great and fun as hell. whats the best place to buy these models, ebay?
Ebay, yes for uncommon kits. i have this link in a direct link tab on my mozilla firefox browser http://toys.listings.ebay.com/Models-Kits_Automotive_W0QQfromZR4QQsacatZ2580QQsocmdZListingItemList www.modelroundup.com is also a good place.
i bought my 50 at hobbylinc or somthing like that they are from georgia. They have good prices as well.
Speaking of hobbylinc, at ''Big Lots'' store they have kits on sale, some folks have been getting AMT: 50 ford converts, 51 chevy fastbacks, and 61 falcon rancheros, for 5bucks each i think.
66gmc,i love the realism of loading the "cast off parts"onto the trailer. The rod is great.Wonderful show everyone, thanks.
