What engine failure did the Scorpion slingshot(ish) dragster suffer at Temple? It's a beautiful car. There were two with the same moniker. One grenaded Saturday.

And while I am thinking about it, why was Temple so kick-*** with energy Saturday, and dead as a hammer Sunday?

There were a few new cars that came out Sunday. They didn't get racing until after noon and most of us had to drive several hours home. Kids have school on Monday. I'm guessing thats why it was slow Sunday.......

Actually it was #7. When they pulled the plugs the one from #7 had no porcelin on the elctrode and was mangled. Both valves seemed fine from the rocker side of the head. Looking into the plug hole all the way on the right you could see the edge of the hole in the piston, just to the left you could see the rod , and to the left of that a bit you could see some of the pin. They had great at***udes and said they had the parts. No between round thrashing though.

Not seeing it make a p*** on Saturday was the only disappointment of the day. At least I got some cool pics of it sitting still.

Thats what happens when you over rev a smokey burnout, I got to give Don some credit on this one thought, That was the baddest burnout I have seen the Scorpion make, ****s it took a motor down with it though.

Does a burnout even help with that track?

You all are correct it was #7. I just rolled the car in the garage and covered it up. The reason I try to do good burn outs is thats the only way it will smoke the tires and when I get up on the sticky stuff I try to roll it out some so I won't sheer an axel keys. We all had a blast and thank Steve and also Ed miller for putting race togeather.

with drag tires it makes a huge difference. On my cathe difference between a weak burnout and a really smoky burnout is about 1/10th of a second. With a weak burnout I have to use quite a bit more steering input, with a good smoky burnout the car generally runs as straight as a string.
Street tires is another matter entirely, especially on a full fendered car. With street tires it is best to drive around the water box (not possible at little river) and do a short dry hop just to make sure the tires are clean. If you get street tires very hot they will grease up and actually have less traction. If you do a water burnout with street tires all you accomplish is filling the tread and fenderwells with water. All that is accomplished with all that water in the tread and fenderwells is that you lose traction and drag water down the track making it slippery for everyone else and downright dangerous for those on slicks.
