HAMBer hotrod51 lives about a mile from me. He is a very tallented, semi retired professional hot rod builder. I say "semi retired" because, after years of building cars for customers, he is currently building a 1st Series Chevy pickup for himself. He likes his rides chopped and low. So this one is getting a rather severe "Bonneville" chop, a later Chevy p***enger car dash, Corvette front suspension, and trailing arm rear suspension. Front and rear will have coil overs and the rear will also have suplamental air bags for those load carrying occasions. I took these pictures this afternoon. Note the wood fillers that locate the rear axle while the suspension is being built. Nothing more than some two by cut to fit the arch in the frame and notched for the axle.
That would be Darwin. The truck is progressing nicely. Here are some pictures I shot a couple of months ago. The cab, bed, front clip, etc. are in final prep for paint now. And the ch***is is being stripped for powder coating. It should be ready in the spring. If you know Darwin then you know it is going to be a noteworthy ride.
Steve, Glad to see you're sittin' up and takin' nourishment. Keep us posted on Darwin's p/u ... and your own T sedan. You guys do good work!!
Chop it! Here are some more pictures detailing the "Bonneville Chop" (note the "A" pillar angle) and the new dash.
