Thanks to a great questions and suggestion area I can finally post pictures of my new pile of parts. These are the gl*** parts from a A/FXer that ran in Texas.
Too cool! Are you going to bring it back to it's former glory? What motor was it running back in it's racing days? I'll be watching this one FOR SURE!
It will be brought back to the last version that it was raced.Wich is the lettering that's still on the fibergl***.
Man, this thing is going to be bad***! Make sure to keep everyone posted on your progress. You are going to run it, right???? Edit: Very cool old pictures, too. It's great to have printed history of the car. Congrats on the new project!
PA. is were the fibergl*** came from I had the body and already started the work on it before I found the other stuff.
That car needs to come back home! The doorslammer nitro cars are my favorites. Where did you find it? Why does it appear to be a hardtop in this picture? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=368667&d=1193191057
They removed the B pillar, quarter window and frames also the back window was taken out. That's why the deck lid is Swiss cheesed to relieve pressure.
From what I can tell it has a tube style straight front axle? Have you ever talked to the original owner or drivers?
Yes,it had a straight tube axle.I've talked to a couple of people that have talked to Tom McCroan,he wants nothing to do with his racing past.I haven't been able to track the others down.
thats an amazing car indeed ! fantastic that you have found all the **** that goes with it. weird the old dude doesnt want to share the history and good times had with the car.
Maybe he's some kind of born-again Christian or something. A lot of those drag racers in the 60s were pretty wild, Jungle Jim comes to mind...
We seem to have a lot of experts here for all kinds a stuff.Anyone able to tell me what the wheels were?Americans or something else?
