The tub ,the merc , and the AA truck have all been on Maui for many years . Don't you mainland boys come looking for our old tin. We don't have to much.
that green taxi tub has been cruising around Lahaina for as long as can remember, still brings a smile to my face every time im over there even though its a plastic car. i was actually in maui a couple of weeks ago, had a blast. i did see the red pick up in Kaanapali and the pick up with all the driftwood in the bed was just past honolua bay. thanks for the pictures, i already miss that place.
There were Doggie Diners on Hawaii? Or is that one imported from the mainland. I know where 3 are stashed right now.
The giant fibergl*** dog head to the right of the Merc came from a small chain of diners in the SF Bay Area.
I've seen allot of those cars...hahahaha I miss Maui..I'll be back in April. Heres some previous Posts.. Damn that merc looks great...louverd and lake pipes are the way to go with those things. But seriously, wtf is up with the giant poodle head?
In Lahaina, up the hill there, I forgot the name of the street, there was the local dumping ground for cars, I saw some 50's iron there, about 12 years ago, but it would have been a logistical nightmare to recover any of it. I wonder if these cars are still there.
It's a giant Dachshund head wearing a chef's hat and coat. It was the sign and mascot for a chain of hot dog and hamburger diners that originated in San Francisco long, long ago. I didn't think there were any in Hawaii. That head is 12' -15' tall.
I know this isn't Maui but it's still Hawaii. These were taken at the leper colony, to get there is a 2 hour mule ride down a 1,000 foot cliff. Boy was my *** sore. This truck is in a garage (shack) in the colony, supposedly owned by the prominent family there. Hasn't moved for years. Woud be a hell of a project getting it out of there as there are no roads out. Everything comes in by barge. Those pics were taken in 2006. BB B
