What would this look like slammed with whites?
or better yet, what would YOU do with this?

chopped look ok with the 5 window look?

primer it black, bag it and drive it?

    pimp it like it is?

I'm no photoshop guru, but i bet that would look nuts as a 3 window,as long as you never rolled it over.Definatly not the safest thing, but in a full kustom it could be cool.

    Just thinking aloud.

  3. I did stumble across a site where they took a big window cab (3 window) and put it on a 5 window cab, not chopped, but looked like a stocker.

I hate slammed. I would lower it, though. I'd keep the faded red paint and go with blackwall Firestones on white steel wheels. Add early Hemi, overdrive manual transmission, late model rear end and front disc brakes and it would be perfect.

    Hey, you asked.

  5. I'd fill the corner windows; I never rever cared for 5 window trucks. I think they made smooth-side beds for those year trucks, would definitely be an improvement. Be kind of tough to chop, the roof is pretty round. Also, a late-model front suspension clip with all the nice stuff like more power, better brakes, smooth ride, and lower. It's not like the fenders and hood won't cover it. And definitely shiny paint. Primer is so five minitues ago.

Pretty sure thats a 52/53 Dodge, might've been registered as a 54 though.
Check this site out for ideas http://www.dodgeclassictrucks.com
Oh and I'd leave it a 5 window.

  12. Dodge trucks are ugly as fuck.

If it were mine, I'd take it to the dump.

If you're gonna keep the turd, put it on a 4x4 chassis.

IMHO, that will never be any better than an ugly assed Dodge farm truck. Wide whites and lowering won't help it AT ALL!

Cool ride ! Reminds me of my first truck...er one of em. Ma was out of town and pa and I went to look at a pool table. When we got there the guy had two old trucks in his backyard he was selling too. Came back with a '49 and a 53 Fargo.....and the pool table. Ma was some suprised when she got home ! Oh..the '53 was black with red wheels and I can vouche they look cool that way. An no, I didn't paint it like that that's how I got it..
What would I do with yours ?? Well, the faded red kinda looks pink so I'd paint it. I'd also lose the wheels.

I thought I'd give it a try as well. I left the fence though.

Slide all three back windows down to match the window line on the doors, and one piece windows so you don't have to chop the vent glass.

  17. wowzers, sure glad they make different models of vehicles for different folks.
you drive a hudson and call the old dodge ugly, come on man.:D

  18. exactly, ugly or not, its not the average old chevy or old ford that you see tons of.

  19. you say this because of the leaned back pillers?
The owner said she thought they quit making this style in 53 1/2 and she thought it odd it was titled as a 54.

Not so much because of the leaned back pillars because 54's are like that to, but because of the split windshiled and the front fenders.Do you have a pic of the grille?

I almost fell outta my chair laughing at a guy with a HUDSON puttin down a dodge, Then hes got WTB 52 plymouth grille? gimme a break.

Deffinatly lower it,with the white walls. An early multi carbed Hemi mill would look nice between those front fenders.
Would look good chopped but good luck with that......

I like this guys idea the best.
BUT..... look at the side of the truck from back to the front, looks perfect until you get to the front wheelwell. The problem I have ayways had with the early dodge trucks. They kinda look like a coe on a 1/2 ton frame.
do the chop ,lower, section the bed, then spend some time rearanging the front sheet metal/wheel base.
find a passenger car bumper that works on the front, how about a 56 olds grille /bumper and canted quad head lights?
Then find a hamber in canada that can send you a desoto tailgate to change up the rear.
Slap on some crome reverse wheels and bias plies.
That should get you a dodge truck that looks cool.

Not to nit pick but the Canadian version wouldv'e been a Fargo. His truck is red "twin" to one of my first trucks. (Got the '49 and the '55 on the a same day as a pair.)

That's because he couldn't afford a real Merc.

  25. Yep, never mind me noob....I just have an opinion...same as you.

  26. Believe me, finances had nothing to do with it. :D

  27. turboroadster got on here looking for advice, as if he was going to purchase this truck....asking how to "make it cool".

These old Dodge trucks are ugly and tough looking. Embrace the ugly and tough, make it a 4x4. If you're looking to build a nice custom truck, use something that has some decent lines, like a Ford, Chev, or GMC of the era.

Trying to make a nice custom out of this particular Dodge truck would take a TON of work. My buddy had one of these not too long ago in better shape and he couldn't GIVE it away.... The 60's Dodge trucks look much better (again IMHO) and make real nice trail rigs.

And as far as the comments about Hudsons are concerned, I'm sure you'll all find more traditional Hudson customs in the magazines than traditional 50's Dodge trucks....not to mention, Hudsons are just damn SEXY! :D

    again....IMHO.
