i know that the 40 and 50 fords are shoeboxes. but i didnt know if there was a certin model that made the best rod. i found one for a grand and didnt know if it was the "correct" model for the lead sled look. ive been looking at a couple 33-34 cabs but would almost rather have a car to tote the wife and kid around in. i will try to post some pics of it. please help before its gone... thanks. toby.
Ok dude so what ya want is a sedan. You can tell the difference by the windows of the back seat. The sedan will have a roll down window and the coupe will not. The coupe looks like shit when its chopped and the sedan looks proportional. Tudor sedan chopped sedan Coupe Chopped coupe Get the sedan if you wanna chop it. I got the coupe and wanted to chop it but now i love the way it looks and wanna leave it. Hope that helped good luck.
Haha thats why i picked it to give him an understanding on y not to chop a coupe...its hard to make it look good.
That couple looks a lot better than the sedan does. Although, I would agree that most of the time a sedan does look better chopped than a coupe.
I'm amazed that you guys are bagging on the Bradley/Lowe/Foose/Barnard Tudor. I think it's most original radical shoebox custom in the last 40 years. Here's the other end of it:
when done right a coupe looks great chopped. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=214544
I'm a little biased but I think only the sedan should be chopped. 4" front, 6" rear is tits. The lines on the coupe are beautiful as they were, and to me if chopped, they're unproportional.
well bad news. its a 54 ford crestline. all original. but the seats have been redone. it needs a timing chain. thanks for all your help. toby.
So ?? What wrong with that for a G-note ?? I've seen many that were done. They can make a nice cruiser. 2 or 4 door by the way ?
What, that 54 Crestliner would make a nice sled! Looks good lowered. BTW, only 49-51 Fords are considered Shoeboxes.
My Coupe is chopped and it looks great!!!! Just have to lean the B pillar to open up that rear window so it doesnt look like such a porthole!!!
So are you gonna buy the 54 ?? By the way many consider the tri-five Chevy's "shoeboxes" as well......
hmm, guess I might not know too much about shoeboxes (including why they are actually called "shoeboxes" - don't look like shoeboxes to me), but the Bradley looks pretty darn nice to me too, including the cut, color, wheels, stance, etc. I don't care about the names either. I'm willing to overlook big TV star names if they kick out a nice car like that. If somebody handed me the keys to that car, I'd probably be cruising in a minute.
i dont get it...thats not a shoebox!! i dont understand how people say 52-54 fords are shoeboxes as well, i also dont understand the tri five shoebox chevy story and i dont get it when people say 55-56 fords look like 52-54
For a grand i'd be stepin' up and buying that thing. Those DO make nice sled's when done right and that one look's to be in good shape. Look at what you get for that money now day's..that car look's to be pretty straight..a perfect starter. Just my own thought's.
thesupersized i didnt say that the 54' was a shoebox. i wasnt for sure what years were. i thought th car was a 51' but was wrong. im still in debate on the purchase. it could be a cruiser for sure. i want a caddy still. toby.
'52 '53 & '54 Fords make pretty neat kustom cars. Check these out. Oh Ya! They call them "Shoebox" because the sides are flat like a shoe box. Everything before 1949 was fat fendered more or less. P.S. That's a '53 Ford that smashed into a '54 Ford which is an old picture from the late 50's/early 60's.
im starting to lean more towards it now. i like the red oxidized primer and the bare metal one too. thanks for the pics. toby.
