Holy cow, there are way too many choices for a 1st time mustang II xmember installer to choose from!!! My 41 chevy coupe frame is clean and painted. I have the basic CE rear spring kit with a 75 Nova diff with disc brakes to boot. My SBC with a vintage Edlebrock TR1 tunnel ram sits between the frame rails bolted to an engine cradle lookin' mean but definatley not goin' no where. I am in the process of research and choosing a mustang II xmember and am at a loss. My welding skills are fine, I can read a tape and can somewhat fabricate parts all day long, but I cannot decide which xmember to use. I have an oppertunity to purchase a Heidts weld in unit for about half of the retail price , but I really like the meaty looks of the CE bolt in unit but at full price ... somebody help make up my mind!!!
strange... most "gassers" that I have had the privilige of either looking at or driving, did have a straight front axles, stout small blocks with dual carbs, fenderwell headers, no front brakes and limited interior... I have also seen a so called gasser with IFS, a 98 camaro 5.7 tpi with a 700r4, plush interior and a radio... I know a straight axle doesn't make it a gasser, but it is sure alot closer to one in my mind than the latter example I explained.
get the FATMAN ultra low. it will drop you another 1 -2 inches than the others since the crossmember sits higher in the frame. they come with stainless A-arms, and the same arms accept either bags or springs. unless you don't want to be low.... of course 1/2 price is always a good thing.
