The other post got me thinking (nothing else better to do I s'pose). I read about him in R and C awhile back, I know he used to deliver flowers when he was younger, hence the nickname. Is it an acronym for something? Or just to get more attention? I hear he's a really nice guy, and quite talented.

Wish I could give you a good answer but I don't know. Where I am, about 40 miles from their shop, it's just Posies. Guess it's just the way they like to spell it. Gets your attention, though.:D

In the 70s he built a cool Model A panel truck. It was bright yellow with a blue panel on the side where a commercial sign would go. "Posies" was spelled out in that panel. It took me 20 years to learn that his family was in the flower business. I never knew the connection. It took me 15 to learn his real name. For years it was always "did you see what Posie built this year?".

I've met him on two seperate occasions and he was cordial and friendly both times. I don't always like his style but you have to admit he always pushes the envelope!

  9. Because he has ready access to funds for his projects. The best kind of capitalization.

Branding. Particularly, the capitalization of the business name makes POSIES a more recognizable brand. Brand recognition leads to brand familiarity, which leads to brand preference, which hopefully, but un realisticly for many industries leads to brand insistence. Brand insistence is the ultimate goal of any company's marketing/branding efforts.

25 years ago my dad and a friend on their way to the Hershey swap meet stopped at his shop to pickup 50 springs for one of their friends who ran a small hot rod parts shop. Once he found out they were all firemen he told them quote- "Get the **** out of my place- I'm not selling you greedy *******s anything!"
Apparently something bad had gone down with firemen and his dad many years before that- so he hates ALL firemen- weird. Never cared to meet him after that.
